@people - all those shares! Sorry fella if you sat on £1million you can pay for some snippets of info!
Only joking
The test and repeat model is boo big data ups
They produce c.300 - 500 of an item really quick. They they monitor
- how fast this sells
- where is sells
- how many times a user looked at it
- what else was bought
- what price they paid ie did they buy it only after a 10% price drop etc
As rag explained “topshop did this” but the comparison is poor as he said 300 - 500 pieces across 30 stores (cat a store - busy one cat B less busy and cat c smaller store)
So the topshop way was the best they could do but it’s woefully poor as coverage is 30 stores so only 10% of estate. Hardly a great view of the whole U.K. also the data they could extract was nothing. What else bought? How many times did the customer pick up the item?
Boo use the data to know how many to bulk order. Ie if the 500 sold fast its hot so order 10,000 if it sold slower but part of an outfit get 5,000 but also order the matching socks and nipple tassels as most people bundled that.
This is great as boo sells the t shirt, the socks and nipple tassels moving forward where as topshop might sell the t shirt but then the customer goes else where for the rest
Also boo can learn your shopping patterns. Why do you always buy a dress in June? Oh that matches your birthday let’s ramp up marketing to you a month before or a discount code. Topshop can’t do this. And boo way makes it less likely you’ll shop around as you have a personal discount!
Data is also used in the advertising engine too. It’s what this company is. It’s data driven and data is a lot easier to get hold of
For examples what is peoples usual shopping time? We can send you emails at 4am on a Sunday as we know that’s when you most often shop or whatever
When you think of the opportunities it’s mindblowing. This is why moonpig is going out as a tech company. Rag would say it’s a cars business
