s-i-d-i. Why would vod buying back its own shares cause the s.p. to rise? Share buybacks have been explained on here many times. Or are you just joking again??

robleo, Just remember to use the DYOR caveat, & you can't go wrong. Forget anybody else's research, just do your own, as long as it is a caveat!!

seen it done it. I know some of your comments are just joking, same as me. The vod sp could plummet, & I would still be joking about it, Because I don't do moaning. My all eggs in basket is probably not good if you are saving for your retirement, but I already have a very good pension. I am losing money on vodafone & the most likely way for me to end up making money, is to hope the sp goes back up. I think the sp will recover, but I could do my own detailed research & gain nothing. Where are we supposed to be doing all this so called research?

mole-man. You make a very good point. But my point is this. To make money on he stock market in the long run you have to make about 5 to10% per year including divi's to make a profit after costs (stamp duty, &dealing costs) To do this, holding shares in several company's is only possible if you are one of the lucky few who can beat the market (by definition means, you know better than most every body else) If however you can pick 1 winner (vodafone perhaps) then it is very possible. The more company's you hold shares in, the more you pay in costs. We can all pretend how clever we are at buying & selling shares, but come on?? it's just bull?? Still good luck, but the odds are against you.

seen it done it. As you said in your last reply to me, you have neither seen it, or done it. But spreading your bets, is just like losing a little often, instead of all in one go. What is wrong with you lot? Try positive thinking, or just buy some granny bonds.

robleo oh dear, oh dear. What advice are you giving me then? I think the vod price will rise, so I plan to buy more shares. Simple? If it falls, then I won't do a moaning Mikey, if it rises, I would gladly buy you a drink. As the saying goes, if you cant afford to lose, then don't gamble! Lucky me eh!! I have made a lot of money on the stock market over the years, but this is the vod forum, so I am only talking about vodafone & I am not going to pretend that I am in profit with vod, but as I have said, I am a medium to long term share holder, & can afford to hold on. But of course (unlike some moaners on here) am willing to take the risk. Of course I wish I hadn't bought at £2+ but come on? Think about that one?? oh, dear oh dear???
