sotonspike. I hope you enjoy your holiday. It might be the last one you can afford at this rate. Have you any idea what has caused this big fall in vod? I would make a general enquiry on here,but all I will get is the usual sack Nick Read, knee jerk nonsense. But if anybody on here can give an intelligent,constructive, opinion that would be helpful. Worrying times?

Hi robleo. Just reading your very interesting post about Nick Read, Many on here have said he should go. You mention his handsome salary & bonuses, but I would suggest than anyone who replaced him promising they would do a better job would require an even higher salary & bonuses. So when they don't deliver we just sack them & get someone even more expensive. If you wan't top quality management these days, I am afraid you have to pay it. & even then you might not get it.

robleo. surely the point her is, who can do a better job. No point getting rid of Nick Read unless he is replaced by someone who is better. It costs a lot of money to replace the c.e.o. of vodafone, so if you end up with someone else who doesn't have this magic wand to turn things around, then it is a waste of money. Nick has been encouraged to merge with other telecoms co's, but as soon as he even considers it he is put down. Of course the press will often have a go, because that is what they paid to do, but all this armchair expert sack them all, is nonsense isn't it. It would be great if we could come up with some intelligent opinions on this, as for me,I don't know the answer so I will leave it to the B.O.D. There may be all sorts of reasons why the vod sp is doing badly, which have nothing to do with bad management.

robleo. 1.26 for me. Thank you for your hard work, but what is the booby prize? One vodafone share perhaps? But I blame sotonspike for his crazy bullish prediction? But I had to go higher didn't I? Did you see vod last night on the nasdaq, & the dow up 600 points. What happened there? Well done fred. Next week I will go 1.26. mole-man only in3rd place,?call yourself a de-ramper? shame on you? Thanks C.S.D.I. although you do have a pop at me quite a lot, I know you mean well, Bit early for skiing, but that would cheer me up, Of course I am cheesed of about the vod share price, but I don't do knee jerk, sack Nick Read posts because I am not expert enough to know who should replace him. Perhaps he should go, only time will tell. Whoever replaces him will still get stick if vod doesn't perform, from the armchair experts on here.

sotonspike. Well you just said what you saw, same as me, the D.J. up 600 points & vod on the nasdaq way up. I expected vod to open up about 2p to 3p this morning, so I was, & still am baffled. Still at least it proves blaming the yanks all the time is complete nonsense. Have a good holiday in Norway. I just hope with this blip, you can still affyord it!?

Robleo. Well said mate, & at the risk of inviting a knee jerk response (which I can take?) your point may apply to me as well. Just keep working for as long as you can, unless you have a very rewarding hobby to take up. As for needing a holiday, I have a week booked in June/July & a week in October. My real passion of course is skiing, but I struggle a bit with my fitness, but still hope to go next winter, I have a lot of catching up to do holiday wise after covid. If anybody fancy's a bet on me to win tomorrow's s/p close, I think you can get about 100 to one" Please keep the good humoured banter coming, I think we all need it? Well I am pleased that you enjoy my comments, so no filter eh, that's ok with me. You sound a bit happier which is also fine with me. As for your comment" vodafone owed me my living" I said you owe vodafone your living? (total opposite meaning) But clearly you don't read, or even try to understand my comments, but most of your post to me make no sense as usual. Why hold one vodafone share? You need help, Not sure about the pills you refer to, I don't take any, do you?? If they work though? why not.

The more you read Mikey's posts, the more you have to suspect Mikey was given the sack by Nick Read, If I was Nick Read, he would have gone a long time ago, but clearly Mikey has an axe to grind, Sad, but Mikey needs to move on from his sad life with vodafone & give us vodafone shareholders a break from his pathetic, chip on the shoulder posts. Mikey obviously doesn't like vodafone, & he clearly hates Nick Read who he in the past has said is a liar, (the company he owes his living to) but I suspect the vodafone management don't like Mikey. Mikey needs help of course, but the vod shareholder chat forum is not the right place obviously. Perhaps some of you who blindly support him, can suggest a more suitable place for him to post on, I think that might help him in the long run?

Hello trader. Why do you say you know Nick Read is not very clever? I know vod is not performing well, but what is it that Nick Read should do if he was very clever? Just saying he is not very clever, is not very constructive is it? (with all due respect). I think most commentators are saying , vod. should try to merge with somebody, & it may be that talk talk is not the right company. He has a difficult task I think, but I don't know if there is someone else, who could do his job better, do you? Good luck anyway.

Hi sotonspike. I currently hold 191386 vod shares,but intend to sell about 7000 some time soon. I don't hold any other investments. I do however have a very good pension, so not all my money is in vod, mostly in my pensions. I believe in long term investment as I think regularly buying & selling shares, unless you are an expert, is not a good idea. vodafone has not been a good investment for me overall in the past, but in the long term I hope that it will come good. I can't change the past, but I can change the future. For me to sell now I think, would be a mistake, but I can afford to take the risk & hold. Of course it may be the wrong decision, but that is my choice, & am prepared to take the risk. Of course you should never invest more than you can afford to lose, so if I lose, (unlike some on here) I wont be whinging about it. I have made money on many other shares in the past, but now my money is in vod. £1.40 will do me in the short term at least. I could do with £2 though, but slowly,slowly will do me, as long as the divi holds.

I just happened to notice this subject on here, & this site, london south east brokers do bed & I.S.A. which I have done in the past, but I had to arrange it over the phone, not online. But the costs were the same. With bed & I.S.A. they will sell your shares from your non I.S.A. account & buy back into your I.S.A. account at approx the same price. The buy/sell spread being the difference.
