Buffy, I hope that you are right, but experience tells me otherwise.
Dana was a hostile takeover by KNOC and was done at 2 x annual earnings, as the offer was a big premium and the Institutions bit their hand off.
Recently, Rockrose has been done for less than the cash in the bank, 22,500 bopd and an imminent announcement, after the takeover (I am guessing) that they have done a big North Sea acquisition from Exxon, so it doesn't always pan out the way that it should.
Nevertheless, I am very optimistic that we will all do very well over the next 18 months, and whilst TXP may not be in the same category as some of the recent Pharma deals, for me it is the right balance of certainty, risk and reward.
I think that gas is seriously underpriced at the moment, and we will be back at normal levels by the end of next year, especially if we get a couple of spells of very hot or very cold weather.
I am a bit miffed that TXP appears not to have announced the spud, as they consider it to be immaterial, but I am not sure that the market would agree with this sentiment, we shall see in due course. I think that a different Nomad would insist on it, but we don't know the full story as yet, time will tell.
Good to see that the offer price appears to be strong, and buying activity is there.
I think that things will look very different in a month or so when we hit the magic £1 mark.
