In the event of findings of interest in the explored areas, companies may request the transfer of these areas if they are in an advanced exploration stage, paying financial compensation to Enami, provided that there is an asset valuation.
The process guidelines include 12 competitive areas that, together, cover 39,994 hectares in the province of Morona Santiago, distributed among the cantons of San Juan Bosco, Limón Indanza, Santiago, Morona and Limón.
Last February, the Canadian company Solaris Resources submitted a letter of intent to Enami to carry out exploration activities in the 12 areas, with a proposed minimum investment of US$25 million, equivalent to an average of US$625 per hectare.
Solaris owns the US$3.7 billion Warintza project in Ecuador, also located in the province of Morona Santiago, which is in an advanced exploration stage.
According to mining authorities, the amount offered by Solaris for the 12 areas being auctioned is within the reference investment range established for the first four years of exploration in the central-southern zone of the country.
