I don't know, seen people talking about shorters and short positions on He1, yet I got a message saying NO from IG...
I guess they were talking crap, but sure one was quoting how many IG traders were short, percentage.
Trouble is IG have a labyrinth of pages, I am sure recently I was able to go through the motions of shorting Aimers without a login,,allowing you to see how its done...
Something happened after Robinhood/Gamestop, I remember people told their positions were getting closed, profitable or not... A few guys at the time were trying CFDs, the more experience warning them about the sudden swings in AIM shares being swift enough to close out positions or cause margin calls to then continue as predicted, but its done and your out... very harsh..
With IG I am not sure you really short, its a contract between you and IG.. I looked at DMA trading its a contract between you and IG, so you own nothing..
Interesting comments

, both the CFD and Spread betting options for the AIM stocks I tried gave the same message.."cannot sell this market"
Being a demo I still might be able to place it, and play like the big boys ;)
Investing is about growing your pot, and AIM is about companies raising money, so often opposites
Also the traders move in and out, those who have timed the recent 3 peaks well (that's not me), have more than doubled their money x2.5

The BB don't seem so exited...
But new Management ?
My broker doesn't offer shorting.
I thought AIMers get those spikes which usually fall so why not play the drop, but it appears we can't ..
Also we know most are worked down on low volumes, so another reason to try shorting,
But the demo account only requires name, and email... CFDs you have to set limits, its free so why not practice, and the end of the day its still trading but without the risk... And will probably get you thinking about the MM taking out the stops..
But you can see AIM volatility especially around news probably means your CFD position is at risk of being closed on a blip up or down which then recovers..
Now Divi time a stock often falls, maybe a few of those are worth shorting..
IAG, the last set of results were sold after a good strong rise,...next results are May, and IAG is currently being pushed by the media that serves PI
@sdg1970, It makes sense for those that will be involved in the funding to prepare in advance...

It is 1 for 19, so those selling to buy OO shares will be selling roughly 5%. The extended offer period was probably to help reduce downward pressure, spreading out those 5% sells, helping to keep the price up.
Many will have sold before the raise, and be buying now, and maybe those hoping for sub placing prices buying chunks in what they believe are the dips, accepting a premium 1.25p
Jay, who was the seller..?
Disko, anybody mining there, name rings a bell ?
0.4p placing
110m dump ?
Interesting, triangle, false breakout with 10% gain ?

I don't know every year there is someone mentioning they Bed and ISA..
And maybe those who are awarded shares and options after the years £20k has been used up...
Yep, but how many AIM stocks, probably not many....
Recently opened CFD demo account to play shorting, but it looks like I can't short AIM stocks, or they are limited,,
so it looks like a privilege for the institutions on the wildest market in London.
Makes you think about He1s current volatility, since we can't short it, but the smart money can, they watch the PI buy high, then hunt their stop losses with a dip probably when PI volumes ease off or selling starts, and then assist that downtrend..
When you think of He1, with Lib being their book builder and NOMAD , and a MM for the stock they have every advantage, being an investment bank making money is their business..
Should have watched it closely approaching 1p
The smart trader could has taken x60 from 0.2... pays to stick around and watch the chart....

I wonder how many have been selling their losers to off-set against profits only to buy them back Monday...
So what's the chance of a mini rally Monday morning
50% for Tro, 50% for Kev, and the rest for Swissy, you could become AIM CEO's with deals like that
