I don't know, maybe it's normal in Belgium and based on local experience. Someone in France looking at a UK site which says '£10 extra for delivery to Scottish Highlands and Islands' (or even more oddly, to French eyes, 'we don't deliver to to Scottish Highlands and Islands') might think that very weird too?!

Vernet, do you think they will even tell us regarding initial contacts? It seems that there'd be 'non-disclosure agreement as matters proceed. I have no experience but rather think we will hear when there's a deal to be voted on, or if something fails to happen. This is what the RNS said:

So does this 'The Board also reserves the right to reject any approach or to terminate discussions with any interested party or participant at any time (without liability to any person) and in such case, will make an announcement as appropriate' mean that we will only hear if *eve* terminate particular talks, not if a potential buyer backs out?

Brook and Wilde are a private company with fewer visits to their website than eve. They are newer than eve. I don't know how their sales are performing but we can probably guess. Offers like that sound risky. What when someone turns a mattress within the trial period? The iPad has lost 50% of its value. To some it might sound a generous offer, to others, a bit... trying too hard?

(I recall a new company selling online wines more than 12 years ago. If you combined two offers you literally got a free case of wine. My sister told me about it and it worked for me, and everyone in her office. I just searched their name and they no longer exist. Fancy that. When an offer is 'too good' it's not a good sign.)

Rich, it definitely wasn't AVA6000. Some existing dox or similar, that causes cardiomyopathy. The sort of thing that AVA6k should avoid.

Someone on this BB wrote that an acquaintance (or relative?) was given dox (think it was dox) appropriate to their weight but it should have been a lower dose as they were oriental. As a result of the chemo the person experienced irreversible heart damage.

Other people on this BB will remember and perhaps the posted themselves will reappear to confirm the details.

Hasn't someone already pointed out that an oriental person reacted differently to an amount of chemo and so was damaged more by it than anticipated. I'm not saying that 'Americans' are a different race but their makeup is probably not quite the same now when compared to an equivalent European or Brit of a particular race. Add in all the other sensible comments and it must be worth testing in US sites.

Taking on debt without an expectation of being able to pay it off any-time-soon is not really an option IMO. You're probably right about a raise being very tricky for the same reason.

They won't fly without some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. If there was a demonstration that one of their products (preferably more than one) was selling extremely well then maybe that would swing it.

Best chance is a take-over and cutting of costs where there is duplication. That could save a fortune.

There's been an Argos sale in June. Even though 143 Sleep Aways is a lot, unless they are selling bucket-loads on the eve sleep.co.uk site it's still probably not more than £10k? to eve. Coincidentally the Argos price is £143 so if there's £50 profit to eve on each one, then nearer £7,000.

I guess over a year it could get to £70k – £100k, or more with the other mattresses and pillows.

I asked another dad at school who works in M & A about the FSP and if it is only used by companies on death-row. What he replied is not much new to us but the bit about 'suiters that may be toying with the idea but don't want to get tied in' is something we haven't overtly discussed on here. I think that's new as I didn't realise there were break-fees with a traditional bid. That would have put the brakes-on in the past.

Anyway, this is what he wrote to me:

'I have done a little reading and digging and the term FSP is relatively new, basically it ironically is a LESS formal version of the UK takeover code that has a very cut and dried approach. Ie deadlines, break fees and cut offs where you are unable to bid for a company for many months if you don’t formally state your intentions. This puts off many possible suiters that may be toying with the idea but don’t want to get tied in.

Basically it’s like saying we are interested in selling or some kind of joint venture but we don’t want to disclose whether we are currently in talks with anyone. They can talk informally with possible bidders without having to declare names etc.

This is my take on it so don’t make an decisions on what I have said please!

Incidentally, I am not wyn, or a 'FAM spudder' as I've been occasionally labelled. I'm a long term investor in AVCT and currently down around 45% in my ISA, and 55% down in my F&S account, having bought AVCT mostly around the time wyn was selling (the first time).

Without wanting to rain on your parade dontgive, whilst revenue would go up if the price of their finished products is higher, I imagine that the prices have gone up because all the costs in making the goods and couriers such as DX (and their diesel costs) distributing them have gone up.. On almost every news programme there is a haulier saying how much their fuel bills have gone up. Apparently even my nephew's driving instructor has increased the cost of lessons as his fuel bill has gone up..

(Nephew has his driving test tomorrow so maybe he can pass and save a few quid against more lessons, as well as be thrilled at passing first time.)
