Greater buying sends price up, greater selling sends it down, and the price tends to be a pretty good indicator of how the market sees it. On the other side, Ggp employees have incentives related to the price of the shares, at a future time. They want the price to go well above that for their own benefit. And shares are like cash. Ggp has used shares as currency in deals. When Ggp raised money from the market, the share price was the basis for establishing how much the market should pay. They relate to that when publishing details.
