I’m going to leave this alone now, with a final post. This lot happened on 11th. May,, Pink News, been subsequently ‘discovered ‘ and is now doing the rounds. I imagine it might be milked for a short period by the media, before their own interest wanes.

I expect there will be many who whilst appreciating the ongoing conversation on the wider issues, nothing to do with the products, view his comments as clownish, stupid, but not malicious.

Not bothered about that, just whether builders/DIYers view them as sufficient reason to hand in their trade cards and so on, and abandon previous reasons for buying at Wickes.

But if it got to the stage where you had to fill in a questionnaire and show your tackle before they let you in, I’d probably change my mind.

It’s all rather stupid, starting with Fraser Longden. I’ve never felt threatened or unwelcome in Wickes, never been offended by staff or particular customers, despite being on the wrong side of Longden’s comments. Doesn’t matter to me.

Shan’t be boycotting to my own disadvantage. We’ll have to wait to see how many activist small builders and DIYers there are out there, sufficiently interested in the media reports to buy their paint elsewhere.

Reading back, I see all this hit twitter and the rest of it getting on a year ago arising from a Wickes Float at a Brighton Pride event. Started the boycotting, GoWokeGoBroke, and similar.

Pee’d off those with no interest in such Wokery. No response to twitter and so on by CEO.

And Ggp should be quite capable of running the JV, if Newmont don’t want that particular hassle.

Sort of sod them and Newmont, isn’t it, to some extent anyway, though we operate as partners. Must jointly get the 100% into FCF, and go from there, taking things as they fall.

How can anyone here know whether Newmount will dispose of H or Telfer, or who might buy it?

Telfer seems to have a future, given time, without all the expense, planning, consents required to build something else in the region. And I don’t think anyone sees 70% and Telfer as anything other than a job lot, one way or another.

So I start from the position of why would they rush to sell either. I don’t know, but can’t think of any reason why they would want to mess with things, with profit in touching distance in mining terms.

It’s been floated in the press, is all, something that ‘could’ happen. And they have said they will look to disposals, once they have settled in. I imagine sometime next year.

Circumstances will have changed for Hav, and possibly Ggp in the next year or so.

As we know, institutions can and do buy, trade a little, in the open market.

Would be a fillip to get a new 3% holder RNS.

To be honest, I had rather sort of expected one after all this time.

One size doesn’t fit all, price, time, in profit or not, aspirations, hopes.

As I said before, I consider myself locked in with aspirations of getting my money back just now.

By the way, a bid of 20p sees me on over 100%. I’ll take it. I think loads of others would too.

We’re secondary market. Do what we want buying others’ shares.

They’re primary. Supporting the company with actual cash.

Of course they’ll take a profit, not bothering about the likes of us. Just bothered about their clients in pension funds and the like, or their own welfare.

Well, would that not mean a completely false RNS by the company and conniving with the nomad?

Whatever else, don’t think they’d be that daft.

There’s the reason for that, which I was late to pick up on. Sold out of my trade, no harm done.

I’d like to think the CEO would at least be having a word in the year of his underling. Whether he would seek to prolong this little twitter spat as it stands by doing or saying anything further is another matter.

I expect they’re getting many emails from worried/impatient pi’s. Would you want that? Another bloody nuisance, as far as he’s concerned.

Of course he wants to rebalance with more patient money. Get the cash in, when he feels it’s appropriate, and hopefully tighten the free float.
