Timing is everything (almost!)12 Nov 2020 21:03
As I said in an earlier post, I have just bought back in because, in my judgment (which may be right or wrong) it’s a good time to do so, after the SP has been bashed (along with plenty of others) following the Pfizer announcement, bringing the SP well below the last placing price. I held GDR for years and regularly spoke about its potential, arguing against the cynics for ages, while the SP dropped as low as 9p. And then what happened? A pandemic came along, GDR jumped on the Covid testing bandwagon and we went through the roof! I sold (a bit too early but still with a decent profit) in anticipation of a placing (which did come) and so have been watching and waiting ever since. My point is, some people seem to take a view about a company based on how well, or how badly, they have done with it, which often is just a matter of timing, even luck, rather than anything fundamentally good or bad about the company. Worse, people who have done badly seem to lash out at others who’s view doesn’t accord with their own. It’s a pity. This board used to be far less busy, but at least it was civil and those that did post could do so, even if holding different views, without hurling insults around like school kids. Maybe we could get back to that????
