RE: IMB or GSK9 Dec 2020 21:43
Hello Me12345,
These are my top 2 holdings by a long way in my SIPP - with 27% IMB and 19% GSK based on current value, which may differ a little from cost %ages.
With IMB, I have had my eyes opened by a poster warning me about the EPS I was basing my investment on. I am looking to cut down my holding and am getting close to selling my first batch of 7 I have bought since Jan 2018. My average cost is 1799p per share now, having first bought at £29. The divis received incl recent ex div amount to £1.56 per share so my real break even is around 1643 now only 6% away. Not sure if this strong run will continue, but I hope to sell a batch soon that cost 1378p just last week. I will keep at least 2 or 3 batches as a long term core hold for the divi it generates.
With GSK I am more relaxed about holding long term, as I have been in and out for 13 yrs. I do not expect any big rise with the SP, but have a target of £16 in mind over any time period. With the 5% + divi happy to pick those up each quarter until we get to my target. Having seen GSK go down to £10 in 2008, don't think I am likely to sell out unless the business suddenly has a terminal problem. It can always surprise to the down side. I foolishly bought my first batch at over £16 in July, against my better instinct, and now have average cost of 1489p, with only 1/4s divi on part of my holding.
Good luck with both of these
Cheers - CSDI
