I do think Mt C has brought the right attitude and aptitude to Scancell and I think someone else said possibly with a big push into his position from our ii's Redmile being the most obvious...
Lindy would be happy putting absolutely everything into the clinic and doing collabs on this and that and looking at this and at that... she is a scientist and great at it but this business will live or die on deals.... She loves her IP gets it all fully patented and knows the value of her peers products but we are not in the position of luxury of a BioNTech ... I say now is the time to be looking for the 'big ones' as it were which will mean giving up IP but also means having the cash to be doing all that sciencing :)
'Cossery, a veteran of Eli Lilly (where his jobs included head of oncology) has clearly brought some clear focus to the business and he stressed that they could not do everything, however good the science– and that implicitly we could see more disposals in the antibody area, and a focus on vaccines. Cossery observed that vaccines are hard and were a backwater- till Covid and BioNTech/ Moderna- but are now a “hot ticket”. He sees the inflection in terms of potential big pharma interest being at the point that there are credible numbers of patients (30-40) in clinical trials (and of course positive readouts). They have recruited a business development officer (arriving September) which is necessary to search out deals but this has not been a straightforward hire, and he sees the need to add to the team around Lindy. A new CFO is being hired, a Chief Medical Officer would be nice but not yet affordable.'
That BDO is much needed and lets hope is someone special :)
