How to beat scavenger behaviour11 Apr 2019 21:16
You can learn a lot from animal behaviour. When a lion takes down a Buffalo within a group, they will do so after slowly working out movement and positions. The group have all worked out their roles and study the situation, before striking. When ready, they strike with precision and they then have their food.
It will only be a matter of time however before the smell of blood enters the nostrils of the scavengers, in this case the Hyenas. Hyenas alone are useless against a group of Lions. However working together they will try and coax the Lions into giving up their kill, by using well worked out strategies. First by playing ‘chicken’ coming close to the Lions and then running, working out which of the Lions are gullible or weak, and then each one will begin the slow process of homing in on the Lions, and in numbers begin to peck, bite and then gain confidence, and begin a well-rehearsed attack. If the Lions remain strong they keep their kill, but if they are convinced by the behaviour of the Hyenas they will give up and run. The Hyenas who have been teasing all along will then eat the prize.
Do not give up your prize to the Hyenas.
