At least the medium and long term stage has been set with a good result and a mouth-watering promise of things to come particularly in the big fancy stone field with the future movement into the higher yielding spoil. Long term hold for me.

According to the FDI must read from Tanelorn, now probably 70,000 carats.

Last rough diamond price shown is 165.21usd plus 55,000 carats, then there are the other stones. do the maths or doesn't it work like that?

Following post on III from HPC follower quote 4 days of sales in Antwerp... >55,000 carats with some >10 carat and many yellow/fancy stones. $5m would be poor, $8m reasonably expected, $10+ would be excellent - but diamond prices remain weak (see Gem Diamonds RNS today) and FDI are selling only the proceeds from diluted ore and stockpiles... not newly mined kimberlite. Feedback Friday? Next 6 months are more critical for actual diamond recovers expected on a steady state basis. Lots of large stones are proven to be there, but can they be extracted without breakages... unquote. Useful opinion but as regards the breakages, I think that it is highly unlikely that the management of FDI would build a brand new plant which had the same fault as the old one in breaking the big ones! Incidentally the rough diamond price index by Zimnisky shows the price at the highest for some time. Check the post by Tanelorn last Tuesday.

Following for interest, posted on III :- With a 1.25mm cut-off, without allowing for any premium for large, fancy gemstones, the figure supplied is $132 a carat. If we assume the average quality of the diamonds from low standard and diluted ore is at least balanced by the larger and yellow stones, 58,000 carats (which could be more if some finds in January are included) should generate at least $7.6 million (£6.1 million) through the February sale. The prices obtained for the 20 special stones larger than 10.8 carats, including the 37 carat white diamond, plus the several fancy yellow diamonds will make a big difference. Any total in excess of $10 million would be welcomed at this very early stage in ramping up, using only low quality and diluted ore so far...

Thanks for that. Yes, some good info there which reinforces the optimistic opinions we have of FDI and perhaps even increases them.

A merry Xmas to all the stalwarts on this board (including those from Kopane days like myself) and a prosperous New Year which I am sure will be assisted by Firestone! Interesting to hear about the coloured stones that have been found so far. If a larger vivid or intense yellow stone were to be found, do you think they would let us know or save the details for a bumper package when the first sales are made? It is encouraging that ore which is not the optimum is producing these stones and is a good omen for when the presumably better ore starts to be processed. The finding of blue and red diamonds in also good news. A big red would make everyone very happy! Regards to all and congratulations on maintaining an informative and interesting board which is not always the case on the AIM. Some of the others relating to my other holdings are a nightmare (ANGS particularly) which are like a bunch of children calling each names)
