There is a problem with most of the lot here. They still live in an era of "passive investing". The old mantras of buy something keep it for 5 years , then it doesn't work keep it for 10. After year 2-3 for most it becomes personal. Their mentality (Nige is the perfect specimen here) is "I will not lose money on this". They are scared $hitless of buying bottoms so they dont have opportunity to average down and just hope for outlandish valuations, which they justify by fair value, undervalued and all kinds of excuses, to to exit their positions at tiny profits. I know the mentality well. While they wait their capital has eroded to inflation.

Most here would be better off buying a corporate bond like BIPS which actually increases dividends (rare) or think about active investing and move on with the times.

He claims he has, by his own numbers, invested around 285000 pounds in ITV. I presume he is not one of those AIM market degenerates that go all in the next 10 bagger and come out with just their pants for decency purposes.

So I will assume he is a sensible lad that really believes in ITV (i.e. I will entertain the fool for a minute or two).

A sensible investor when he really believes in a stock's prospects will rarely go above 7% of his/her portfolio in a single name. Depending on their aggressiveness they may get up to 75%-80% stocks and then some bonds or cash but more than 7% is reckless.

So assuming the above I calculate that our fantasist friend here has approximately 4 million (4,000,000) and some change in his portfolio.

If he hasn't then he is more of an imbecile than I think he is.

So Pogo, may I ask what on earth is it that brought you to these forums as it seems that if you are managing a portfolio of 4M you probably couldn't care less about an LSE board full of small time amateur hour investors.

Pogo who is the BOA you keep referring to? Is it the Bank of Ajerbaijan you refer to? If you are talking about the states it is called THE FED. In England it is the BOE. You sound so authoritative. It is true that the FED so far has been political and has been cutting and being dovish in the face of increasing inflation using doctored employment and PCE numbers and now they seem to be making a pivot. As for the BOE well they are being a bit more responsible since the Gilt crisis (incidentally we are back at Truss levels) and keeping rates high. Long it may continue.

All this does not bode well. But all of this is foreseen by yours truly (higher for longer) I may have mentioned it here too in previous posts. ITV is not going to benefit from this.

And to elaborate further on this. Why are the shares not being cancelled? I have not read anywhere in the company literature and happy to be proven wrong, any undertaking that they will be cancelling shares.

So Pogo's outlandish claims that they will be and they will increase earnings per share is total nonsense unless they can prove to me that ITV have said they will cancel the shares they bought back.

As things stand this buyback is a colossal waste of money probably asked by institutions in order to exit some of their positions at a decent price and to also give further voting rights to Mccall to defend bids in order to secure her cushy position and the ones their cronies have.

As I have said in previous posts, with the bid/takeover usual malarkey story yesterday's news (engineered to save some face for McCall most likely), buybacks not working perhaps because they are not actually cancelling shares but just buying votes to potentially defend against a bid (really clever way of spending your investment cash isn't it?) - they only way is down. The rest of the clowns here will have you believe that there is jam in 2026 due to some sports events but they have no answer what puts bread on the table in between for ITV.
