RE: Short Position - 3.5 %31 Jan 2025 07:46
people here feeling sorry for the people with short positions make me laugh. it is their chance after years or months (depending on how long they are invested long) of waiting thinking that they have outsmarted the market and caught a bottom to vent some of their frustration for waiting for a profit that never comes. imbeciles of investing generally speaking people that short a stock do so for protection of a long position. sophisticated investors like myself always take the opportunity to buy something at rock bottom and at local tops buy a little insurance (short) to protect them from a downside.
their imbecilic minds cannot fathom (the maths may be too complicated for them) that you can be both long and short at appropriate price points and portfolio percentages and still make a **** ton of money.
so darlings do not feel sorry for shorters they have milked the liquidity you have provided for months now when you were trying to catch a bottom and kept on buying, only to find out weeks later through hard banging on the table that you were not so clever after all. you were just sitting watching your capital do nothing not even earning the inflation rate. like broken clocks once in a while you will enjoy a spike but i know for a fact most of you will earn nothing out of it. because your averages are either higher or you will be waiting for the bid to materialise for the big money.
personally for the last few weeks i have made my investment long at 63p work by shorting at tops. an insurance hedge. yesterday at the close i shorted again. i am willing to sacrifice a small percentage of my paper profits so far, as insurance, in order to cover the downside. it is called risk management. something you wouldn't know even if it were to smack you in the head.
