And on any instrument I am always long usually in stock or ETF's and at appropriate levels I take shorts too to protect my downside. I did this a couple of days ago on both Nasdaq and SPX (ES futures) and has paid handsomely.

The long is stock so no premium there the short on spread bet carries an overnight interest of 0.0251% hardly anything to worry about. But where we are now is a potential bounce point hence why not taking any profits from stock. The short remains in place as insurance. It's not 1:20 leverage as Tolstoy says I am a simple retail trader 1:5 is my leverage

Since the 10th of Feb when share price peaked we have had 3 attempts (the one just earlier) to break the bearish hourly downtrend that has established. 76p which I have mentioned in the past is a critical level to break and establish a base. It is not happening. We just had 2 looks above it that undoubtedly trapped a few that bought shares and that is about it.

I am maintaining my half short position as a hedge to my long from 63p.

IF I am to take Tolstoy's insane rumblings at face value about low volume I would say this.

Typically desirable shares thrive in a low volume environment. That is to say if the liquidity is not there and there are no willing sellers , the market makers will markup the price until they appear.

I think I am going to close half of my short here opened again for insurance purposes against my long from 63p. Offloaded some at the near top now offloading some shorts at what I think may be a short term bottom.

Nice trade if you know what you are doing unlike Tolstoy who has pumped his entire wealth into a single stock and all he has left is just writing gargantuan proportions of posts

OK so we seem to have some confluence here in this mini bullish period since end of Jan. The buyback VWAP and 20-day MA are near identical (0.30 of a pence). The RSI is pointing downwards though and close to 50 but crucially above it. A strong bounce today will indicate resumption of uptrend. A close below 20-MA and VWAP not so good news.

In either of these scenarios and in the absence of any bid or even mention of negotiations, then carnage. The divi would be cut because income is not predicted to be sufficient. I suspect this is unlikely though especially since McCall is clinging one for dear life and the instis probably stay invested for that reason only.

Dipped below VWAP today and found support at 74.2 on the 20-day MA.

The short term market structure is bearish but medium term bullish. Some traders wait to see a reaction at their chosen VWAP and if they see a bounce of it they buy it. If below and an attempt at a bounce is rejected they sell. Sounds easy but it isn't that much. You need to have a defined exit strategy if it goes wrong and patience to keep holding (meaning you need to know when to take profits after studying where the liquidity is)

We are trading a range of 74.50 - 77.55. Bull above bear below

Still above it VWAP from commencement of buybacks is steady at 74.60ish

Someone explain Tolstoy by the way the finer points and the merits of using paragraphs.
