Cowichan, can you please elaborate for us simple folk and provide some proof rather than your opinion. Are you suggesting that CEY is to be nationalised by the Egyptian Govt as probably copying what the UK Govt has done to UK Oil and Gas cos ?

No way hosay !! BP and SHEL would leave UK in a flash !! I'm surprised that none have legally challenged HMG re the higher taxes for Oilies because how about the windfall profits being made now by BAE and other Defence and Aerospace firms ? How about the very high incomes being earned by footballers, cricketers and other sportsmen, eg £30m p.a. Shouldn't they be wealth taxed at c 70% and/ or capped (100% tax) as no-one needs £30m p.a. I say this in the context that Labour are meant to be the Party for ordinary workers !!

Dan222, the Tories haven't completely destroyed the NS Oil area, but Labour's plans will fire the final bullet. I wonder also if the average Labour voter, those with GCSE's at least, would really want the oil and gas firms operating in the NS to be destroyed with thousands of workers laid off and supply chain suppliers bankrupted also, not even mentioning shareholders and lenders losing large amounts.

I can't believe that Labour have plans to make their higher EPL retrospective to Jan 2022 as I thought retrospective taxing is illegal ? There could be such a rush to leave UK that there'll be no buyers for abandoned fields.

TerryM1, you've certainly been in some frustrating positions. It really shows how unfeeling, inhumane even, that managers can be expecting you to train those taking your job. Can't blame you leaving as it takes away one's dignity / self respect. At the end of the day we all have to face ourselves even if one is, like the top Nazis were alleged to be, so high on drugs to distort the reality because the latter breaks through eventually even if too late to comfort those disadvantaged. I very much believe in the "what goes around comes around" situ even if too late for those disadvantaged. Re SHEL and others and UK's EPL, SHEL for example sold off its 50% stake in SouthCoast Wind Energy Project off Massachusetts, thought at a loss, because the US wouldn't increase SHEL's sale prices, thus I'd bet that if Labour push things too much they'll end up with a walkout by oil companies and probably oil worker strikes.... Starmer, like us all in life, is on a learning journey !!

Well done Trek, you're doing better than me on this share. I have enough here and generally won't average down in such a case, so being patient. I'm doing very well with BA., RR. and BAB especially, but have taken profits on some others like BP and bought back though at a higher than the current price. Plenty of good prospects for others though slower than expected, eg IAG !!

At least the Tories tried to be optimal about it and get as much as they could without causing bankruptcies and walk outs. Remember that there are c 200,000 (I think !!) workers in the North Sea operation so aren't Labour the party for the working man ?!!

All, Could the SSE price falling be worries about Labour's nirvana Great British Energy which doesn't even exist yet ? SSE is one of the most Renewable Energy companies in the UK, surely Labour battering SSE, rather than working with them, would be total hypocrisy ?

TerryM1, I'm invested in all 3 of SHEL, BP and HBR and see the way the Tories have taxed the UK domestic Oil and Gas cos, but what confuses me, maybe naively because 'fairness' in life is a strong principle of mine, is how they can do that without any conscience because, after all, isn't that what sociopaths do ?!! I understand them trying to operate with some level of fairness v consumer costs, eg tax them enough, but also allow them to have reasonable profits (which after all is why they exist). But to bankrupt businesses because of one's policies shows how really nasty the various decision makers are, and indeed how nasty their spouses also are as why would they be with them otherwise. Bankrupting businesses can also cause much hardship for their employees and suppliers, etc..., without even mentioning shareholders and other creditors. I'm sure the bankruptcies are simply seen as collateral damage, the politicians' way of dealing with things. Personally, if Labour does screw the Oil and Gas companies for their UK profits, I hope SHEL, BP, HBR and others leave the Oil and Gas part of their UK operations.

Sorry all, looks like the ii app is malfunctioning. My lowest price today shows 552p, but on LSE here shows 590p. I even started the Trade option and the price showed 565p !! I've noticed some other odd prices for other shares also which don't correspond with their daily graphs. So Beware others who use ii app whose prices come from Morningstar (who I don't trust) !!!
