RE: CEO10 Aug 2022 21:03
Hi Bigpunt, I’m sorry to see you have come new to the board to receive some unfriendly responses. I can empathise, as I have been in your position quite recently, posting a few warranted and well thought out but pressing questions on a different company board, and I also received some defensive comments and accusations of causing trouble. I was looking at a starting investment of 10k there and I just wanted some information I couldn’t find elsewhere. I didn’t bother.
I agree with my comrades that Stuart Ashman is a great CEO and I do disagree with your concerns that he may be single minded when it comes to marketing. The comments I would like to add are:
1.) I do feel Stuart and the company were led up the garden path by both the U.K. and US Psoriasis associations. Before launch they were calling each other partners, Stuart said in an interview once that they had applied pressure for the company to make their Psoriasis formula first, that they had been involved with advising on pricing and that the Psoriatic community were very vocal and therefore the product could be launched frugally with not a great deal of marketing spend. None of this transferred into many early sales, as evidenced by the 22k sales in the first two months even though the members of the associations had access to sign up during this time. Stuart will have had to pivot to the influencer strategy and later the national press advertising and social media managers, but sadly this didn’t happen in time to save the numbers.
2.) The launch of the product was purposely ‘soft’, and with good reason. Sending little packets of unknown white powder by post from an hour outside of Amsterdam was expected to, and did, cause lots of headaches. Stuart didn’t want to kick off with bad reviews and interrupted supplies so purposely didn’t have a huge launch made up of lots of channels of marketing.
I do think that now, with a little patience, that the AxisBiotix PS sales will be good. I also think that when the acne formula is complete it will blow it out of the water because it is so marketable, and remember, we have Geoff Bell on the team (Google shampooheads) who is experienced at marketing to the Acne age group.
This company has a huge amount going for it, even if you don’t invest yet make sure you hang around and soak up the events and I think from that you will learn all you wish to know about Stuart and the way he does things.
