Zero sanctions easing, getting more and focused.

Waivers are not sanctions easing- its the equivalent of a general license from OFAC (U.S sanctioning authority). Example waivers/General licences are given for specific transactions such as receiving and sending money, or to import export something specific.

A good example is Executive Order 13662, directive 3 which bans any new debt with a maturity of 30 days. In other words if your not paid in 30 days you have to apply for a general license to ofac. Nearly all companies (especially ones which reputation is important such as big or listed companies) write of the debt as it brings you under the scrutiny of ofac which is the worst thing possible for any business. They'll ask you a thousand unrelated questions and you'll be on there radar for good, as well ask why you doing business with Russia. Then legal fees for a general license are a few hundred thousand for one license so companies only apply for them if the debts are very very big and can satisfy ofac questions. One of the conditions is they usual advise you need to exit all Russian business today and publicise the general license.

These waivers given even for transactions will a drop in the ocean. Be sure western companies have long ago started finding new suppliers for commodities.

Peace and security in for whole of Europe and 99.99999999% of the population trumps treating EVR fairly and your self inflicted investment "injustice". The chancellor got up on Parliament very early in the conflict and said very explicitly don't invest in anything Russian.

Poly doesn't have the poster child oligarch who owned the world's biggest yachts and premiership football clubs, nor do they have a direct line to putin which he picks up anytime of the day.

Russia will be heavily sanctioned for years to come and will never be fully free of them. Even when putin is gone there will still be partial sanctions.

We European imperialist savages have always been at war with each other and at times spread our conflicts to the rest of the world (ww1 & ww2 most recent). Do you folks realise we've had 70 plus years of relative peace and free trade. The last major conflict was ww2 and Europe got flattened.

The only thing more important than economy, jobs, avoiding recessions, cost of living etc is peace and security in all of Europe if we don't have that we can't have anything else. There was no other option but to hit Russia with sledgehammer of economic sanctions and hit it again and it again. Its having a strong affect and sanctions take time to work there way through the economy. Russia needs to be taught a lesson to any future aggressors of Europe.

Before anyone mentions Serbia, Kosovan- that's didn't involve the world's largest nuclear armed state, commodity superpower and was very much localised.
