Ortex etc gather info from statutory reporting (see JPM) and by other means.

Now other means is probably some spotty faced junior phoning round dealers etc. no hard factual basis.

Now I acept you will not agree with this but.......

In the grand scheme of things even 60M shares out of >4,000,000,000 is not significant.

You may if you wish have ISA's at different providers BUT only £20000 in total allowance in any tax year.

Over time you may accumulate at £20000 per year,, There is no upper limit.

If as you say they are selling stock then intraday buying back. Then this would
A) Not be short seling, mearly trading
B) Ortex etc would neither know nor report any increase in short positions.
