Hi stokey12 - I can only guess that the contract value must be much less than you have estimated.I think H&W's criteria must be one of £1m plus before issuing an RNS however it is good news for Appledore & is one where clearly Appledore were competitive.I added an edit referring to the lowly current SP hopefully we will get a correction soon.

⚓FIRST STEEL CUT ANNOUNCEMENT ⚓

'Work is now underway at our Appledore yard on the construction of a specialist cable barge for defence contractor KBS Maritime Ltd. First steel has been cut and once complete this Spring, the barge will enter service in His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth and support naval vessels such as Mine Hunters, Type 23’s and Type 45’s.

James Davis, Managing Director at KBS Maritime said, “The acquisition of the new cable barge is a key investment supporting our Asset Management strategy across Portsmouth Naval Base. By working with Harland & Wolff to design a forward-thinking and purpose-built barge, specific to the needs of this busy Naval Base, it will enable our Alongside Services teams to continue to deliver vital services to the Royal Navy in an efficient and safe way.”

Based on the current trading there are clearly many people who think H&W are a bet worth making you never know we may end up a 'blue day'.Posted by someone who is ever the optimist.

Hi stokey12 - I think as indicated by my previous posting that we are safer working on the basis of all matters relating to the finance deal being completed in Qtr 1 2024 it is when in Qtr 1 2024 hopefully Feb or latest March I do not see it being January hence no date was given in the RNS.The only indication of timing was the deal will be in place before the money runs out.

Hi Caravan - I agree with your post I am also invested in Sarium (SAR) who had a positive post yesterday but now it is being slowly brought down.AIM has become a 'Casino' for day traders & those that 'short' shares & until H&W can get the finance deal finally through, positive outcome for IM & at least some contract news we will be at everyones mercy.It will be many years to when we can join the BAE's of this world on the main stock exchange.However I do believe that H&W have a secure future it is just a matter of waiting expect to be in better waters the end of Qtr 1 2024.

I just do not get it why on earth should the SP be dropping.What is there not to like about last weeks RNS as per an extract detailed below - UKEF was to provide a 100% guarantee to UK commercial lending banks' so no risk to the banks.Surely it is a no brainer that Arun & his team have achieved something no other company has achieved so far with UKEF.Time will tell.

'In order to ensure that the proposed loan facility is compliant with the relevant rules where UKEF was to provide a 100% guarantee to UK commercial lending banks ("Banks"), UKEF will now appoint an independent third party to ascertain an appropriate premium over SONIA. This process will commence in January 2024.'

My thoughts exactly the same as yours Kaeren balanced post.Now looking forward to 2024 which should be a 'bumper' year.

Hi All - Hopefully this is my last post in 2023 but I was expecting a trading update today at the latest 12.00 however I am not going to loose any sleep because we did not have one.It was suggested that we may get one on Wednesday 3rd January or maybe near to that date.The fact that we may not get one then means they have nothing to report that is new or there have been no significant changes to earlier forecasts.

I am feeling positive about today's RNS & feel that JW & his team have played a blinder to achieve the terms they have as detailed in todays RNS on that note I think it is time for me to stop posting until we are into the new trading year.Regards to all.

Hi All - As we watch the slow SP increase we now await the 2023 trading update which hopefully will not hold the SP back but could further propel it unless it is after close of business today.

In my opinion JW has achieved the target of getting ministerial approval to proceed. With a 100% guarantee being given by the Government which is normally 80% it shows confidence by this Government in H&W. Clearly the target of being under a rate of 10% has been achieved.With clear Government backing I am confident that the final approvals for the finance deal will be achieved in January 2024.The market reaction this morning will decide if I am right with my assertions. Well done to JW & his team.

No RNS at 7.00 this morning. H&W are cutting it fine to meet their current deadline re the financial deal.I just hope the announcement is not delayed again this time into Qtr 1 2024.

I have just made a small top up this morning of 966 shares to round up my investment in H&W through ii & paid 12p per share & based on earlier share movements this morning likely to show as a Sell.Clearly based on my Buy this morning I am not the only one taking advantage of the current SP which is 'cheaper than chips'. Time to be positive.

Hi Folks - Well at least 'British Bulls' have 'HARL' as a 'Buy' from yesterday.Lets hope that signal does not change going into the New Year.With regards yesterdays events I see it as a positive & I am now looking forward to hopefully an encouraging trading update next week.With regards the awaited 'Finance Deal' maybe next week or early January 2024 but not worried about it happening. Referring back to a post by dawski37 mentioning there being a 'Cunning Plan' it is quite clear to me that H&W do have a 'Cunning Plan'. A company does not get regular visits from ministers of state to a company that it is not going to support.I have had a refresh about this whole 'Finance Deal' & cannot believe that the government sends ministers to a failing company but does send ministers to a company in Norther Ireland that it does not intend supporting.It is just a matter of time for the 'Finance Deal' announcement maybe this Friday maybe next week or maybe early January but I feel it will happen soon.
