yeah. When the bomb dropped that fateful weekend, the monday am was a bloodbath and i managed to get out with around 70% loss in the space of 30 minutes or so. I will never forget that feeling as i watched my phone at 8am. almost helpless pressing the sell button. The sad thing was that there were some that held on and perhaps are still holding on!
does it matter when i posted? i cant post from my mobile for some reason, only my laptop. i dont sit at my laptop much. anyway, i sold many days ago. there was a scary article that questioned the viability of the business. if i find it, i will post. Holding long can be suicidal. See Evraz and Mccolls recently. I have not folllwed my own advice and need to try harder to sell when a share falls more than 10%. I have done this for various shares like Ali Baba thank God as it went into long term decline. Anyway. I hope it goes well for others but some people have limited pots and need to make brutal decisions and not ened up like those poor people still holding at Bahamas or Mccolls with 90 plus %% losses
Hi all
I have cut my significant losses of around 5k In Cineworld and departed chasing another rainbow at COPL and Meta. I am consdering Ali Baba but the risk of delisiting is real. This share has been almost as painful as Bahamas petroleum. I cannot risk waking up one day and seeing almost all my money wiped out liek happned with Bahamas. The court case loss was a warning sign and a recent article scared me too much. many of us are not following sound investing principles. We are not diversified enough and have too many eggs in few baskets. We do it because we are looking for multi baggers for various personal needs. Anyway, I have made my decision and am putting a lot of hope into COPL because i have little other choice. Trying to not go over 50% of portfolio.
"Make no mistake: Despite this streaming craze, there are studio bosses and agents out there who savor the theatrical window and all of its downstream riches. Movies are the biggest publicity ever for a piece of content — even if a pic bombs. Theatrical builds global stars and long-lasting, lucrative careers and opportunities. Subscription upticks from streaming content and viewership ratings really don’t do anything to move a star’s profile or their next deal. But the power of the box office is undeniable,"

"That is because if Cineworld were pushed into bankruptcy by the damages, Cineplex would be near the back of the queue of creditors to be paid, multiple lenders told the Financial Times.
The group’s debt pile stood at $4.6bn at the end of June 2021, according to its most recent filings.
The legal wrangle between the two companies comes as cinema operators worldwide battle to resuscitate revenues that were wiped out during the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.
“From a strategic point of view, Cineworld is in a pretty good position even though they are facing this huge judgment,” said one lender to the company."

why are the media so negative about Cineworld? some positivity above
"So overall, I think the outlook for the Cineworld share price is improving. As such, I would be happy to buy a speculative position in the stock for my portfolio."

bahamas petroleum experience has given me nightmares. I still remeber opening up my shares app on a monday at 8am and the shares dropped in an instant due to weekend news. felt like rabbit looking at lorries headights and all that. need this COPL thing to really work out but dont want to go all in likelast time.
some context would be nice. Continental has revenue in the billions and profits in the hundreds of millions. All tangible and verified. I do not appreciate comparing a skyscraper to a piece of land waiting for building work to commence
its hard to sift through all the noise on chat groups. I remember on Cineworld group so many posters following the court case live feed and giving the impression that Cineworld would surely win the case. They didnt and shares fell. The wise option is not to go all in but.....
