Hi Daz, it may have an X on the end but it’s a 777 at the end of the day.
Look how the introduction of the 787 went, battery fires and an ELT fire. All after the manufacturing nightmare meaning some processes were taken back in-house by Boeing. And this is after how many years of producing jet aircraft? First was the Boeing 707 in 1957.
Fuel cells were invented by William Grove in 1839 and then taken to space from work carried out by Francis Bacon. But in space projects, longevity and cost don’t feature highly as long as they meet the mission requirements.
To displace conventional energy we need a modern efficient and reliable cell. This is new tech compared to burning carbon based fuels and adoption will take time. Let’s hope the grid restrictions will help fuel cells become mainstream.
