Thanks capt. nice to have a positive day. I think many p.i are put off by the larger mkt cap companies and look to make as quick a buck as possible on the small caps where, true, there may be more movement 9both ways). Very often doesn't work out though longer term as I have found out to my costs - hold too long for that little bit extra and the share price can fall back to Earth with a bump. Regards CM

Rather crazy share price reaction to RNS this morning imo; didn't think it justified the spike to over 950p, but fall back is a little over done too surely. Many "A" trades today which always make me feel uncomfortable. For a brief moment this morning I think I may have broken into profit.......but it was a very brief moment. Some good bits and some could be better bits in the RNS, revenue up in Western Europe but seemingly down in North America, although it doesn't say by how much. Wait and see with this one I think. I have sold out too quickly and with not enough patience elsewhere; I need to give this more time. Not sure how any interest rate rise next month will effect BOY; maybe it has been priced into equities already. Regards CM

Hi FK. You may be right (in time) regarding the share price reaching 450p but history says that there is likely to be a retrace as is happening today, especially after a steep rise. 500p?, hmm, hopefully, but imo don't think it will be this year. This is no superdrive share, wouldn't want it to be. I have been living by the seat of my pants in too many shares and need to look for a more stable, relaxed (if any share can make any one feel relaxed) share. I would rather have slow and steady than fast and furious. Tortoises live a lot longer than cheetahs, although I dare say their lives are a lot more boring and the diet rather tedious......."what's for dinner Mum?"..."lettuce dear", "what's for tea Mum?"......"some nice lettuce dear". Good evening folks. Well, what a day.........where did that come from?. Wish I had kept all my 6000 shares bought early days at around 60p or so, rather than dibble and dabble and have the 1000 shares I currently have. However, no worries. This is a spike today in the share price. Inevitably, the share price will fall back from around here as with any share that spikes does, but as you rightly say BT it has always come back. Last year we saw a retrace from mid September to early November of around 30% and yet it recovered and hit higher highs. I need to have a more detailed look at todays RNS. I had to leave for work at around 7.10 am and expected a rise, possible of around 10p but saw no early rise. You are right about not looking back at recent sells BT, but it is hard not to; largely to justify the sell I guess. Doesn't change anything though and just becomes a negative should the share price rise - in which case we just have to say, o.k, no worries, that's life...........move on. Enjoyed your comments about having a secretary etc and memory. Why am I able to remember what happened whilst at primary school for Heavens sake but can't remember where I have put the car keys?!, don't I realise I am holding them or that my glasses are ON MY HEAD?!!!. And then I am expecting to make a profit with my investments!. Is there any hope?.......was there ever?. I suppose one of the few benefits of being not as young as I once was is that I can relate much more to the older customers where I work and have a laugh - it breaks through barriers. A classic is when a customer says to me "I've lost my wife" (it's a very large shop where I work) and I am tempted to ask them if they want sympathy or congratulations!. Good evening capt, bought in today on a buy order. 496p paid, 800 shares. Hope I haven't put the mockers on things for folks by investing. This is a far larger company by market cap than I am use to buying into, but feel I need to review my investment strategy. Need more stability (he hopes) and being able to rest more easily than some of my more recent investments which although have largely been successful have been more volatile. Lets see what happens. Spread very small between buy and sell which may make up for having to pay stamp duty. Will get another quote tomorrow. If I am going to buy in then it ideally needs to be before others get to know of the likelihood of promotion to the FTSE100. Regards CM

I tend to agree with your comments about other boards. I could have picked up shares in BPM the other day at 259p, but now I see it has jumped to 268p to buy. Took a small holding in NUM today, but have some cash which could be invested here. The spread here put me off a little. You have done very well here, that's good. Good luck and regards CM

I have taken a small(ish) holding here today at a tad over 300p. Don't want to be too exposed. Spread is pretty tight which is good. Quiet board - usually a good sign - under the radar. This was brought to my attention by the Naked Trader who has a very good record. Regards CM

Well, well, well. Good evenng capt, how are you doing?. Hope all is well. Fancy seeing you on here!. I am just doing a bit of research. I happened to have a look at the FTSE All Share Index on Stockchallenge.co.uk. It shows companies positions by market cap. and identifies likely candidates for promotion and demotion from indicies come the next review. It looks likely that SMDS will be promoted to the FTSE100 at the review on 29 November and admitted to the index on the 18 December. Should that be the case then it can be expected that funds will buy in and the share price is likely to rise. No guarantee of course. I am not invested here..need to do more research before I decide. One to go on the watchlist. Regards CM

Good evening T. Thanks for the post. I expect you were begining to think you were the only person who had been looking at this share!. Yeap, I have read what the latest RNS said re insurance premiums after the hurricanes and floods which was a concern of mine. Who knows what event is next to hit or when?. Regarding a downturn in the markets. What I am begining to see is companies that report even good results in their RNS or results in line with market expectations are still being marked down. Should a company report anything which may be regarded in any way as disappointing or not quite up to expectations their shares get marked down substantially. In other words there appears no room for disappointment. This applies even more so to the high growth companies with excessive valuations which many investors, including myself, have been pumping or are pumping funds into. Could this be the first signs of a market correction which is long over due?. When good news fails to lift a share price...........If so, it will hit all companies, not just those with plenty of liquid assets and cash. This is very much a time to pick stocks very carefully and to be in no rush. Sitting on the sidelines as an observer not just here but elsewhere too. Regards CM

Anybody know the reason(s) why Numis keeps buying back its' own shares?. Also what may happen to share price should the market turn bearish?, which surely it must do sometime in the not far future. Will the likely increase in interest rates either next month or in December have an effect on the share price?. Sitting on the sidelines with this on my watchlist. 30% rise in share price over 6 months. Hmm, not to be sniffed at. Share price down on what seems to be good results; seems about right for the market at present. This has come up on my radar previously, but until today I hadn't done much research. Toying with investing a small(ish) sum here. Looks like one of those boring companies which out perform the more flashy exciting companies. Just wonder what may happen should the general market turn more bearish as it must surely do at sometime. Nice quiet board - usually a good sign. May just see what happens over the next day or so. Good evening rivaldo. It seems I keep bumping into you on different boards, perhaps that is a good sign. I have taken a holding in IOM this morning. I too have read the Naked Traders report and looked into things a bit more. He has a very good record. I am reading again his book, "trade like a shark" and often dip into another book of his "how anyone can make money trading in shares". Easy reading and complete common sense. Unfortunately I drift off into my own world at times and recently have made mistakes such as selling out of SCH to increase my holdings elsewhere only to see those fall back and SCH move forward after a sluggish performance. Perhaps I need more patience and definitely renew or refresh my investment strategy. Trying to get rich (ha, ha), too quickly. Regards and good luck CM

Hi BT, I'm not up to using my thumbs, just using my index finger only and slowly. I may be able to touch type at around 40-50 wpm on the keyboard on the laptop (learnt that as my trade in the old Andrew many, many years ago) but can't compete with the youngsters on their touchscreens!. Strange thing memory....can remember my service number too...........but ask me where I parked the car in the multi story and I have to ask for the best of 3 guesses!. Heaven knows where the market is going to go, there are so many uncertainties, knowns and unknowns. After a series of down days and lower lows BOO jumped back above what I sold out of the other day. May just be the one blue day in more red to come. That can be the case with any share; we can think all is well and hunky dorie only to get caught out again. It's almost become too much to fathom. Too much seems to be down to luck rather than rational research etc. I too am not a gin person. It was just the Harris whisky was still in the making and wasn't ready when I was visiting, so I took the freebie thankfully. Apparantly Coke is very good as a rust remover, which makes me wonder what it does to our inside. Makes me wonder therefore what the Harris gin was doing to my inside and what it would do had I spilt it on the floor, would it have taken the polish off the tiles?. Hope you got the brickies sorted. Good evening BT, hope all is well. Good to hear from you. I do intend sitting tight here for the time being at least. Who knows what lies ahead. There is so much uncertainty around. Brexit seems a complete mess, nobody knows what Trumpty Dumpty is going to do, including himself and at some time the market will surely turn generally. Today I accidentally sold my holding in BOO, by touching requote on the mobile screen just as it changed to sell!. Arrgh!. Almost the low price of the day and of course it finished the day higher. Not sure what is going on there, something seems not quite right. It has been falling since it gave an update end of last month despite what appeared to be a decent update...........or was it?!. We can be guilty of reading into a RNS what we want to, regardless of the company and BOO is/was no exception. Somehow we can believe that the price won't fall further and yet it keeps dripping back. Still made a decent profit overall but lost around 2/3 of profit I could have taken. Oh, the benefits of hindsight. I should have really set myself an exit strategy. If anything was needed to change the sentiment for BOO it is probably me selling out. Selling is always the difficult part of investing since we can always find some reason to not sell and either continue to hold or even buy more. Anyway down to just 2 holdings for the time being. With these darker evenings and darker mornings, hibernation seems a good option just now. Just to wake up to do what we need to do, eat and find the Jura. Must try Jura sometime; tried some Isle of Harris gin on my travels, almost took the lining off my throat on its' way down.......was it meant to do that?. Regards and best wishes CM

A very strong trading update this week with profits forecast to grow nicely. The company reports the second half the best on record. Meanwhile a Dutch fashion magnate has taken an 11% stake raising speculation it could shortly be a takeover target as the last independent broker in the city. Anders Holch Povlsen who owns near 30% of Asos and lots of other brands spent �30m on the stake in Numis. Given he is not exactly stupid he wouldn't be buying unless he saw lots of upside one way or another so looks like one to be in and await developments! Could be some very nice upside indeed." Well BT, I hope you have had a better day with any stocks you hold than I have today. I took a severe beating with BOO and a kick with BOY. Looking back with GBG I remember taking a beating of about 30% over a three week period last October before seeing a recovery, so hope things will be the same elsewhere too. Difficult not to panic at times. Gulp. Major manipulations not just with GBG. Best wishes CM
