I’m in the fortunate position of having this year’s ISA allowance ready to invest. I’ve been mulling over who I should invest it in but couldn’t come up with any better alternatives to GGP. As Element said this morning, ‘Rule 1) Never sell your winners if they making ATHs on a regular basis and pointing to new ATH constantly - because you have know way of knowing where that stops’.

Not wanting to wait until the new tax year hoping for the upcoming hopefully good news, I put the money into my fund and share account earlier and paid £6.41205/share for another 3317 shares. Once the dust has settled after the 6th April I’ll bed and ISA the appropriate amount over bearing in mind any tax implications should they arise.

My portfolio is modest compared to some on here and although GGP isn’t 100% of my investment, I am more than balls deep in the share - probably up to my nips now!

In just 10 minutes, I convinced him to 1) listen to Micheal Oliver and 2) sell all his gold and buy gold miners with the proceeds on valuation alone. He couldn't believe the free cash flow.

I hope you charged him commission E1!

Many years ago I worked for a company that had an arrangement that put cash in the bank into ‘overnight money markets’ and would be returned in the morning plus a profit/fee. I don’t know any more than that but presume over the years and with the internet etc there are similar and more sophisticated instruments that do the same job.

Having a ‘Serious analyst’ isn’t enough for this board. Please give some reasoning to your comment. I presume as you’re sure the price is going to £3.50, that your group is shorting GGP. Please let us know what price you’ve short from so we can congratulate you when it hits your target.

The following is not about tax but is about inheritance and human nature so as it’s Sunday, I hope this is of interest.

About 25 years ago, my lovely partner and her siblings received a very delayed inheritance of £85,000 each ( the reunification of Germany came into play).

My partner used the money to buy a property, refurbish it and rent it out.

Her eldest brother used it to assist in his retirement.

Her sister bought a painting.

Her other brother (wild to say the least) borrowed against the inheritance before he received it and had a massive 6 months of wine, women and song. By the time the money arrived, there was nothing left over for him.

We can all find something useful for the money when we make that crunch decision to sell!

Morning EC, I was made redundant at age 47 in 2008 during the financial crisis. Working for a property developer, we could see it coming but it was still a shock. Following that I went freelance and picked up work in general contracting for several years. I’d kept in touch with my old work colleagues until one day the boss rang and asked if I wanted my old job back! After ten happy years I decided it was time to jump ship and retire. To be honest I would have gone earlier but there was great camaraderie there and it was worth it for that alone so know what you mean. By this Christmas three of my colleagues will also have retired since I left so nothing lasts forever.

It’s Christmas so take stock and enjoy your time with the family. It sounds like finances are not a worry and as long as you have your health, I’m sure you will realise actually how lucky you are.

Printerman, your shares were consolidated by 100/1. At the same time the share price was adjusted to 100 times its original amount so at the end of the process you hold fewer shares but at greater value and would equal your original holding value. The share price has since then slipped back which all the subsequent discussions/ arguments are trying to ascertain the reasons for.

£25 is £1.20 pre-consolidation. There were a lot of us looking at the £1 club before the ill fated scallywag results. Thinking of the good I could do my family if it did reach these heights, let’s hope so.

If there was such strong demand and confidence, why such a big discount?

In my less than illustrious share holding journey (I’ve invested in some right dogs over the years thinking about it), I would just like to say how grateful I am to the many contributors on here and elsewhere who freely give their time and information to assist those of us who are less experienced in mining and the implications of some of the decisions our excellent management team have made. Just reading these boards and the posted links I’ve been amazed at what I’ve learned.

Although I’ve not sold any of my holdings, having it as a nice backstop gave me the confidence last year to take a slightly early retirement. Now I can read these boards even more than I did at work! Onwards and upwards.

Pj, there was concern at one stage that viable Telfer ore would run out prior to Haverion coming on line meaning there was a risk the plant would have to shut down. With the latest news this has been put to bed.
