Initial research is underway and Scancell anticipates initiating a Phase 1 clinical trial ("COVIDITY") in Q1 2021, subject to funding. The Company is actively seeking development partners and additional funding (including non-dilutive funding from governments and global institutions) to support the rapid development of this vaccine.



Professor Lindy Durrant, Chief Scientific Officer, Scancell, commented:



"As the COVID-19 pandemic has unfolded, Scancell has been evaluating how it can best contribute its expertise and resources to help in the global response. Vaccines are the long-term solution and we believe our combined high avidity T cell and neutralising antibody approach has the potential to produce a second-generation vaccine that will generate an effective and durable immune response to COVID-19."



Professor Jonathan Ball, Director of the Centre for Research on Global Virus Infections at the University of Nottingham added:



"Focusing the antibody responses on the receptor binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus should ensure the generation of high-titre antibodies that prevent infection. Delivering these virus targets using Scancell's DNA vaccine platform, which has already been shown to be safe and effective in cancer patients, should enable rapid translation into the clinic for prevention of COVID-19."

Olderandwiser, that is a pretty accurate assessment from you. Of course funding is required regardless of this COVID 19 project, but as you know there is a hold on clinical trials atm.

With the SCIB1 Combo Trial with Keytruda delayed this is an opportunity to focus on the Immunobody platform. If you see my post this morning and a reply from Cliff Holloway as to an e-mailI sent to GMB, he mentions a coordinated media effort, which to me translates as they hve it in hand, possibly pending news of funding. I cannot imagine why Lindy Durrant would release the RNS without having a good idea of where funding will come from.

It is a wonderful opportunity to bring focus on the Immunobody platform and she will be very confident her science will work.

I have been hopeful before this came up, but the delay to the trial was very bad timing, but e do have a third platform Avidamab which is currently in three different collaborations, in China, USA and Europe which we are very hopeful of converting to commercial deals from September onwards also a joint venture with Notts University.

Got a feeling news will come soon on this vaccince, hence to the coordinated media coverage, my confidence bolstered by this and yes a BUY.

Nice one, I think Cliff would appreciate knowing that going by his reply.

Older, there are many variables, I just thought it would be interesting to see how those figures came out. One thing we do know is the more denselypopulated an area is, the risk is higher.

Well, it certainly seems Scancell are in the process of having a lot more Media.

Anybody had any ideas of assisting Scancell in obtaining Media time. Myself and Ratty put this together for Good Morning Britain, chased up yesterday, but obviously appreciated by Cliff Holloway, which was the point in contacting him.

Hi GMB team - I am sure you get all sorts of crackpot suggestions for matters to feature on your programme, but may I add one to the list which may well be of interest - obviously I presume you will do research into possible features but this one is likely to give a good return on any enquiry.

During the Coronavirus outbreak we have seen manufacturers adapt to help, for example Mercedes Benz F1 and Dyson moving into production of ventilators - Can I draw to your attention a pioneering British cancer research company that announced just last Friday that they have started a fast-action proect to build a vaccine to combat the virus, and not just for the current outbreak but with a view to a platform that will be able to produce long-lasting protection AND with the ability to adapt to mutations of the virus in the future. This last feature is particularly ambitious and enterprising.

The important thing about this company is that they have a low-profile but proven record in unique anti-cancer vaccines - they have already produced results with a melanoma vaccine that have been hailed as 'way beyond the established norms' - and are now adapting this technology to move into the coronavirus space. I won't bore you with the details - they can be researched if you wish to take this any further.

Of particular interest is the fact they are British, based in Oxford, and they have a number of staff who can provide informative but (crucially) easy-to-understand summaries of their technology and plans. Chief Scientific Officer, co-founder and genius behind the science is Professor Lindy Durrant of Nottingham University who interviews spectacularly well with facts not hype - or the face of their PR is the Chief Executive Cliff Holloway, or one of the founders (now Non Executive Director) Richard Goodfellow.

Rather a different picture to claims we have the worst figures, although one is too many.

Hi WTP, who knows, but I"ve been cathing up on all the posts since the weekend. I have literally been sleeping for 20 hours, up for a couple and repeat and rinse, so it has been good this evening catching up with all the posts Cracking pots from all the usual suspects and i can"t remember a time when so many of us are talking from the same page. Perhaps it shows the sheer relief of LTH to get some really good news after quite some time, excitement at seeing a good share rise and more importantly as you get to know everybody a lot of confidence in the posts. Been even better to see some familiar faces who haven"t posted for a while and for the newbies a lot of respect shown. Perhaps Majorboy it is good to give a reason why up/down, which way you think it will go has as much merit as the other, but a pretty lazy post and personally not much time for it.

So a nice bounce yesterday from18% down Tuesday, shame i overslept again, sub 7p looked good to open a trade for me, but hey delighted to see us 25% up on the day. A lot of feelings as to Vulpes, I Gave my views and stand by them, but must admit when I heard I thought fofooknfbej!!!! I think I read a few overreactions, but less of that, yesterday said a lot, and we might still get another one, but I just can"t imagine Vulpes intentionally damaging there 17% holding for the sake of a few hundred thousand.

Pleased most of all of the timing of this, none of us exactly predicted it and I had just about given up hope of seeing us involved. Still fascinated by the timing, subject to funding, and I cannot believe Lindy would have announced that without having any idea of where funding might come from. Just MO, hence I am hoping for further news any day.

But really pleased for all of us that it has come at this time, we are all putting up with this virus and what goes with it, I know for me it has cheered me up no end. Lets not forget we have Avidamab still in three collaborations, with the 12 month agreements getting closer every day and during a time when we seemed to be running with SCIB1 and attending conferences for Moditope we still have these two alive and kicking, our name up in lights, Lindy in focus again, and the hopes of all of us behind her.

Back to Vulpes can anyone convince me those sells were to damage us intentionally, they certainly created a new trading opportunity.

And familiar names from the past as this conversation goes with Tony Rowe, well worth checking out our pipelines, where they are positioned and this covid19 vaccine, which all make up a M/Cap of just £40m.

Very confident we will get the funding needed for trials for this which I think will bring to the fore the other platforms. Take a wee look and can you see any companies with the reputation of our Chief Scientific Officer Lindy Durrant valued at just £40m with A SCIB2 trial being paid for by CRUK, a SCIB1 trial vaccine ready to go in America and our lead canditate Moditope ready for trials by H2 2021.
