I'll translate the meaning for you with my bleaker intellect. While there is no rig, no new wells, falling production, an erosion programme to pay for, oil in the current range, there is not a cat in hell's chance of buybacks, whatever the share price.

What buyback? They'll be holding on to every cent until the new rig is delivered.

There have been plenty of institutions loading up pre RNS. The last 6 months the market has been drip fed juicy titbits of info, anyone sitting on the sidelines waiting for the official RNS deserves the financial forfeit incurred.

Strong finish in the US tonight, in what has been a good week for BP. Whatever is moving the share price, it's not the $64 oil price.

The BP share price before the Bumerangue discovery RNS on Aug 4 was circa £4, with Brent over $70. Today the SP is nudging £4.60 with Brent at $64. Not all of that increase is down to Bumerangue, but its played a major part in the change in sentiment towards BP. The market doesn't yet know the CO2 content of the field and whether it will have to be compartmentalized. If they are favourable, £4.60 will be a distant memory.

Lots to ponder on, not least production potential. Bumerangue is located in the prolific Santos Basin where the Tupi oilfield with a 400m column height is producing 1 million bpd and Buzios with a 300m column height is producing 600,000bpd. Bumerangue's column height is 1000m.

Production was higher in Oct 24 than Oct 25, and that was with the lowest river levels on record. That was followed by a very strong Nov, Dec 24. The lack of new wells mean Nov, Dec 25 production will fall in comparison. There won't be more drilling at block 95 until Q2 next year, so Q1 will be tough as well.

They just need the oil to send down it. Big cut in Capex H2, and it's starting to show.

The share price in America tailed off sharply. Comparing the Aug 4 RNS with the Oct 30 release, in the initial Bumerangue discovery they stated a 500m gross hydrocarbon column, today's statement says a 1000m gross hydrocarbon column. So, while it's undoubtedly a challenging project, it's even bigger than the already mind boggling numbers that have been put forward.

Definite momentum in the BP share price. £4.37 with Brent@$64, testimony to the avalanche of positive O@G news from the company. The dollar picking up against the pound isn't hurting either.
