RCG 26 Sep 2006 LONDON (ShareCast) - Security solutions outfit RC Group rallied to its best ever today after reporting a massive increase in both interim profit and revenue. The provider of biometric identification products, security and RFID systems, posted a 357% rise in pre-tax profit for the six months to 30 June to £6.4m, while revenue rocketed 371% to £22.6m, topping last year’s full year figure by 46%. RC attributed the revenue hike to a big performance from existing biometrics products, new product sales, expansion into the Middle East and revenue contributions from acquired subsidiaries in Southeast Asia. Strong organic revenue growth of 204% to £14m was driven by the expansion of RC’s product portfolio and client base, it said. Looking ahead, it said, “Given our technological excellence, strong sales networks, talented employees and financial resources, we believe that the group is well positioned to continue its plan of growth for the foreseeable future.” “With the increased revenues that we have achieved so far in 2006, we look forward to a promising future.” Boss Raymond Chu added that the group will maintain its aggressive growth strategy in the second half, with an eye on potential acquisition targets as well as focusing on driving organic growth.

Prezzo rolls out more outlets Thu, 13th Apr 2006, 09:47 Italian restaurateurs Prezzo announced a surge in profits for the last year as it continued its expansion programme, rolling out more outlets. The group reported a 56% rise in pre-tax profits t £6.4m for the 12 months to 1 January from £4.1m a year earlier, on turnover up 68% to £37m during the period against £22m last time. Prezzo said it managed to open a further 24 restaurants during the year taking the total to 72 by the year end. The group has since fitted out a further 6 and has more openings planned. The group added that the £7.13m it raised in February, together with funds generated from its own operations, should be sufficient to meet anticipated expenditure needs. Prezzo has proposed a final dividend of 0.125p per share from just 0.0625p last time.

Their latest venture, Prezzo, an AIM-listed Italian chain, is growing fast. Yesterday it served up stellar annual figures - a rise in pre-tax profits from £4.1m to £6.4m, along with a 68 per cent jump in sales to £37m. Prezzo, which is run by Jonathan Kaye with his uncle Phillip featuring as a consultant and a major shareholder, now has 78 restaurants, having opened 30 over the past year. The group is benefiting from the growing number of people who eat out. According to industry forecasts, by 2025 half of all meals consumed in the UK will be eaten out of the home. Currently, this figure stands at 35 per cent. Given their record, there is little doubt that the Kaye family will cash in on this trend with Prezzo. Yesterday's results easily beat analyst forecasts. Breakthrough for Ardana's key testosterone product ALISTAIR MCARTHUR A RACE to come up with a leading treatment for low levels of male testosterone, or hypogonadism, is hotting up after Ardana - the Edinburgh-based reproductive health specialist - announced positive results in the testing of its key product yesterday. A phase II study provided strong evidence of the effectiveness of the company's cream technology for the delivery of testosterone through the skin, said Ardana, and its shares rose by almost 2 per cent to 130p. The news came a day after Ardana's Galashiels-based rival ProStrakan was cleared to sell its key testosterone replacement gel across the EU. A pivotal phase III registration study by Ardana is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Chief financial officer Graham Lee said the result confirmed progress on its product's development. "We hope to get phase III finished by the end of this year. Then we are into registration and getting approvals in the United States and Europe." The cream is seen as complementary to the company's Striant testosterone tablet already available for men with hypogonadism. While acknowledging ProStrakan was further ahead in the development, and other firms have already launched similar products, Lee said Ardana's cream has superior qualities. FirstAfrica Oil PLC 12 April 2006 FirstAfrica Oil plc ("FirstAfrica" or "the Company") Update on Drilling of East Orovinyare Field Offshore Gabon FirstAfrica Oil plc (AIM: FAO) ("FirstAfrica" or "the Company"), the upstream African oil and gas company, is pleased to announce that its field development plan for the East Orovinyare Field offshore Gabon ("EOV") moves into its next stage with the arrival of the GlobalSantaFe Adriatic VI jack-up rig on Thursday, 13 April. The Adriatic VI will continue the phased drilling programme that commenced in January when the EOV-4 appraisal/development well successfully proved up the eastern flank of the EOV Field. The field development plan calls for production from four wells to a single unmanned platform tied back to a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO). Production of the light crude (37.5 API) will be processed on the FPSO and is expected to commence in late 2006. The Company will update the market regarding the financing of its development programme in due course.

ARTISAN (UK) 12 April 2006 Directors' Shareholdings The Company was informed on 11 April 2006 that Aspen Finance Limited, a company in which Artisan's Chairman Michael W Stevens has a beneficial interest, purchased on that day 2,000,000 ordinary shares in the Company at 3.75p per share. Mr Stevens is now beneficially interested in 71,666,667 ordinary shares, representing 21.81% of the Company's issued share capital. As a business that demands high levels of capex to grow, the debt situation could be worrying. In September 2005, the company secured funding facilities of 22.1 million pounds, facilities of 18.6 million pounds were agreed with CIT Bank and a further 3.5 million pounds with the two principal shareholders.
