LONDON (AFX) - Zi Medical PLC said it has started preparations for the commercialisation of its PathScore system for breast cancer. The medical devices company said it expects to generate its first licence opportunities in 2007. PathScore is a digital slide analyser platform and its first application is for the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, the company said in a statement. Zi Medical plans to expand the technology for detecting prostate, cervical and colorectal cancer. Zi also said it named Julian Demmon as business director. Demmon has been vice president of business development for MDS Pharma Services.

RC Group Our view: Buy RC Group has developed a suite of technologies which help deal with a good number of the terrorism and security problems the modern world faces. Some of its solutions are straight out of a James Bond film. Take for example its fingerprint recognition system. It can be used as a security device to protect anything from a laptop or jewellery box to a home or office. It falls within RC's biometrics division which has also developed iris scans and facial and voice recognition systems. Alongside this sits the group's radio frequency identification (RFID) unit. RFID, a successor to the barcode, uses wireless technology to identify objects. Many corporations have adopted RC's biometric solutions in conjuncture with its RFID tagging kit. Without checking the recent financial reports, do not know. However, Fund Managers are looking at High to Mid Cap Inves- ments for the immediate future. They are looking better value. If ICI is getting it's act together HANG IN. It's paint products are some of the best.

Problems at one of its salvage projects sent shares in SubSea Resources 8p lower to 25.5p. The concerns surrounded its project called Celia. The company said its remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operating company, Fugro, had performed very poorly. Without two reliable ROVs available to work the recovery system, the significant costs entailed in keeping the entire heavy lift operation at site were not justified. As a consequence the focus of the operation will now change to a much lower cost but slower exercise. However, it said that the cargo on the ship had been opened to such an extent that it was now possible for John Lethbridge to access at least 1,000 tonnes of copper. There are currently 5,000 tonnes remaining on the vessel.
