Voller’s initial target markets include construction, telecoms, leisure (boating, Recreational Vehicles and caravanning) and the military. Within these markets the benefits of using fuels cells, such as low noise, no toxic emissions and health and safety issues, are important drivers.
These are sizeable markets – the portable power market (generally defined up to 10kW), is expected to be worth $17 billion by 2011 (Canadian Fuel Cell Commercialisation Roadmap – Price Waterhouse Coopers, March 2003).
