29 February 2008 The Company announces that it has today been notified by Francis Johnstone, a Non-Executive Director, that he has today purchased 300,000 ordinary shares of 0.1 pence each in the Company at a price of 1.4 pence per share. Mr. Johnstone therefore now holds a total of 1,094,996 shares in the Company representing 0.78% of the issued share capital.

pipe 10...biggest stone but low quantity...no further action, pipe 14...initial results poor but sds to do further investigation Mineral Services also reported on a sample from Kimberlite 14 but further work is required on these samples before detailed information can be released. pipe 17...134kg sample returning 25 stones have positive value characteristics, most being colourless and of moderate to good quality. Pipe 17 is considered to have further commercial potential and Mineral Services has recommended follow up and larger scale sampling of Pipe 17 to confirm the grade potential.Several of the larger stones are white (colourless) octahedrons and dodecahedrons with good form and moderated to good clarity.

BHP have an option on sds shares which they can excercise if sds get lucky. as for the lake thing, we will probably have to wait another year, and if sds dont get lucky soon then maybe they wont have the time...i wont be here then thats for sure, so its make or break for me in the next few weeks.

because drilling under a lake is surely a little more difficult and expensive and sds are a low cost operation...also, if they find diamonds here there may be issues regarding open cast mining in a lake!...cost issues and environmental issues and of course drainage problems...

what if the guy has good information but cant say where the info came from?...my view is simple, you dont have to trust every source of information, but to dis the guy just cos he wont divulge his source is kinda harsh...keep it up preditor

either there were a lot of diamonds to count and the samples were significant, or the samples were made up of rock fragments that were too large and needed longer to dissolve!...either way we will know in a few days. as for the lake drilling, i was always a little unsettled by this, and maybe if the samples due this week are good then the focus of sds will be redirected and the lake thing will be lower on the priority list...this next week could be very interesting

DIAMOND EXTRACTION BY CAUSTIC DISSOLUTION Processing for Microdiamond Analysis The process uses diamond's property of high resistance to caustic soda (NaOH). Very few minerals survive the harsh attack by caustic soda; therefore weight reductions commonly exceed 99% of the initial sample weight. After digestion in molten caustic soda, the sample is poured onto a large diameter 150 mesh screen. The + 150 mesh residue is liberated from the NaOH by washing the sample in a series of water and acid leach (HCl) baths. Once all of the NaOH is dissolved and removed, the concentrate is dried and screened on a 6 mesh screen to remove undigested material. The undigested material is examined microscopically by a mineralogist. If the + 6 mesh material is significant or consists of possible diamondiferous rock fragments, further digestion may be required.

rns today says "The processing of samples collected from priority kimberlites 10, 14 and 17 generated larger than normal amounts of dissolution residues, which took longer than expected to pick for microdiamonds and carry out appropriate quality controls. The results of the sampling are now expected next week" ..............interesting --------------- Sunrise Diamonds PLC said its winter drilling programmein Finland has been hampered by extremely mild weather, as drill tests over lake targets cannot proceed safely until the ice is thick enough.Testing of these particular lake targets may need to wait for 12 months, the company said. The land-based kimberlite targets are scheduled for drill tests in March. .................frustrating

read the report...it is very informative about the diamond exploration process and the chances of success...i think it says that 1% of kimberlites are commercially viable in terms of quality and quantity of diamonds discovered so from that point of view its very risky, but they do have several prospects which have given great encouragement, and just over the border there is a huge diamond mine which is part of the same geology. If they dont find diamonds then the cash runs out and they all go home...but if they do hit it rich then the upside is huge...

the 2007 report is now posted on the sunrise diamonds website...colourful, informative and encouraging!
