Hello From the above link but wont post the full article as you need to pay the paper, so below is the free bit DYOR ========================= ONE of Britain’s richest men hopes to trigger a shale gas boom by giving away billions of pounds to landowners and communities affected by fracking. Jim Ratcliffe, the 61-year-old Lancastrian who founded chemicals giant Ineos, has promised to hand over 6% of the revenue from oil and gas wells — 4% to landowners and 2% to local communities — in an effort to jolt the moribund industry into life. The offer would equate to £375m for a typical exploration area of 36 square miles, and goes far beyond the 1% giveaway to which the industry has committed. Ratcliffe estimated the offer could be worth £2.5bn in total. To lead the charge, he has hired a trio of ex...........

Some respite for fracking shares imo. See below thread I posted on a fracking board - DYOR, GLA ===================== Hi A bit of support for fracking, but until real shale gas is exploited that is commercially viable, imo all fracking co's that on the who deal with fracking remain volatile. http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/business/Industry/article1464570.ece As always, DYOR and ATB
The man wants to give away money to aid fracking http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/business/Industry/article1464570.ece DYOR and ATB
As Alk has an interest in fracking ie, relations with EDR, you may find the following interesting that I have posted on shale gas boards GLA - DYOR ================== Hi Great article in the Guardian re fracking - posted the other day. Second article re fracking and people in Scotland. IMO, good to be aware of what is in the media about shares you are in or monitoring for possible future positions. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/sep/26/fracking-trespass-law-changes-move-forward-despite-huge-public-opposition http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29374335 DYOR and GLA

Good morning dear investors I have always been a fan of directors showing support, if bought in substantial quantities when SP id heading south. IMO, decent director buys gives faith to shareholders and the SP imo. What do you guys think, are you adding, holding or selling? Link to story re directors buy and numbers they bought can be seen in the LSE 'Directors buys' links top of the page http://sharecast.com/news/tate-lyle-directors-dig-deep-to-show-faith/22083461.html DYOR and ATB
H I'm entitled to my opinions just like you. You are spot on about investigating the shale but you also have to recognise concerns that the majority of the people that own their own homes have. Also, fracking shares are speculative and very volatile. I'm no Green crusader and up front re my ambitions ie make more money but I'm not easily led. IMO there may be money to be made years down the road but at the moment the SP is not one for sitting on your hands. I deplore anyone digging under my humble home even if its hundreds of feet below, but if there is money to be made via SP, then I will go for it, but at the mo, v volatile and not sure if worth the risk but I will contiune my interests. Anyway, good luck friend! DYOR and I mean it, ATB
Supermarkets are in a vicious price war and imo will start the Christmas discounts even earlier and the new year sales will start early as well with a bloodbath in price cuts. Worse still, the likes Aldi, Lidil, Poundshops will not sit on their hands. The other day on a local radio show a lady rang in and she was a bit like me, a Waitrose - M&S shopper but then she bite the bullet as she saw her supermarket bills go higher and higher. She said about Aldi or Lidil cant remember exactly that she wa very pleasantly surprised at the quality and prices. Blow a link to the story of the 7 billion pound fund manager and what is stance re supermarkets is and quote = "Don’t invest in crisis-hit supermarkets', says Neil Woodford." http://www.standard.co.uk/business/business-news/neil-woodford-dont-invest-in-crisi****-supermarkets-9757408.html DYOR and ATB
Thanks as always - Been tempted but also tempted with EDR. However, I'm waiting a bit longer and may buy both ALK and EDR subject to market conditions at the time and fundamentals. ATB and DYOR
Btw - this is why I would not hold long term I I did buy EDR. However, there is a 50/50 chance that quiet a few yrs down the road fracking firms remaining, new ones may really build on the work of the pioneers of fracking in the uk ATB DYOR http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/sep/26/fracking-trespass-law-changes-move-forward-despite-huge-public-opposition
Thanks again. you are of the same opinion re EDR v the other fracking co. I'm not expert but place my sentiments on public sentiment as seen/read in the media and how family feel re fracking and risks. With SP re fracking down and Igas massively so, poss a little bounce and larger bounce with bits of good news. However, imo fracking shares trends are south but with EDR possibly more of a scope/potential for investor profits shorter term imo. I may move into EDR within 2/3 weeks subject to SP levels, market fundamentals at the time Thank you again, DYOR and the very best of ATB
I'm not hot on shorts/longs/spread bets/etc/etc but IMO, should betting ie long/shorts/spreads not be banned or very limited as imo, they can kill the small investors SP/holdings. Anyway, see link below re the 700 million hedge fund bet re price going down - I think you call it a bet. Where do you see the price Monday pm? All supermarkets are going to lose SP value judging by the massive price wars which wont end next week but will intensify with the Christmas persion/sales that may start earlier than usual. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/business/industries/retailing/article4219427.ece DYOR and GLA
Get your finger out of your and post the answer DYOR ATB GLA
Thanks!!
BTW, why the fall today? DYOR
Thank you. IYO, do you feel EDR is a better/safer bet than Igas and if so, why? Any predictions re SP by end of Nov? All fracking SP's are news driven and juding by what has been posted here, can we expect a lot of news flow? Thanks in advance DYOR and only invest money you can afford to lose and money that is not borrowed. ATB
Thanks for your usuall, helpful posts.
Cheers I am of the opinion EDR is a much better place than Igas to be in. DYOR
I'm going to stay clear until a lot lower and even then think hard before moving in. DYOR & ATB
