The drops when it goes ex div are manufactured drops by MMs. It depends on what their game is at the time I guess. I assume they will have loaded up with stock earlier but this last rise might give them more stocks because people will be selling. I doubt it will go below 920p. With gold and silver now both clearly above the day's high, it makes no sense that we haven't gone above it. This should be a multiple.

PB, I agree with your take on the production issues hurting this share. I hope next update will put this right. I may take another couple of quarters to properly turn the corner. Who'd have thought with PM prices where they are, Fres is at 920p

PB, it hit a peak of 938 in decent volume first up and then got savagely taken down next 30min in very little volume. The MMs are very hard at work here that is for sure. What bodes well is that volume seems to be trending up and with gold trending up, we could be in for a good 5-6 weeks run. I like to see this break 1000p first up.

10 year T notes now rising back up and usd breached 9100 today which bodes well for gold....

Yes, bought back in at 924. I figure I just have to hold for a few days and I would be 17p up.

Hmmm, Fres price not quite what I expect this morning so no trade. Volume is also up a tad so I think there is a buyer in the market. I think miners have bottomed now as well so it all looks good.

I think tomorrow might be good to reenter at 910p after clearing out my 898 tranche today. Thank you very much.

If you trade Fres during a gold bull, it is tremendously rewarding and I suspect we are in the start of one now....

Very much the gold and silver price pattern. steady rises punctuated by big sudden falls...

On Fres though, the key indicator to use is volume. Buy/sell when there is a spike on volume 30m chart. when the volume is back to low again, the MMs will walk it down savagely. Bit onerous though I I can't seem to set a volume alert so I have to be around when this happens....

This will go to 920s again I bet.

Jmax, my buy at 898 from 3 weeks ago was looking quite dodgy for big part of the last 3 weeks despite looking at the charts and trends, it occurred to me that gold had turned a corner. Got to admit, it was squeaky bum time couple of time and at time very frustrating. Luckily, I trusted my judgement and it came good.

Phew. This should be a very good trading share now if gold remains in an uptrend. It can get taken down savagely but when it pops up, it pops up strongly.

There is some serious anti Fres out there. I should have stuck to Rio Tinto. I doubled my money betting on that from 2000p to 4000p thinking I have done well then moved it all into here. Instead Rio is now 6000p and I am right back where I started with Fres. Full 50% down compared to if I had just stuck with Rio.

Polymetal has much more volume and they are up 2.5%. That should be where we are at.

It is a market made by market maker in middle arbitrating on price when there is low volume. It is more buyer and seller when volume is high. Volume has been very low last few hours and then volume comes in and up pops the price around 10am.

The price action on this share really frustrates me and the more I look at it, the more I am convinced that MMs are playing games with this on low volume. With gold and silver holding steady above 1760 and 2590, who in their right mind would sell Fres at 920p taking it all the way down to 911p apart from themselves?

The only upside is when there are buyers in the market (volume up), the price pops up very strongly in a quick fashion. I think we look good to touch 950 on next bout of rises.

In another year this will be close to 8%. We are still working on last year's profit numbers. This years will be much higher. By then, I hope price will reflect the rich yield on offer.

Yes the political risk is worrying and Russia has just ramped up tensions. Not that it will affect Siberia? For Russia, you will need a good Oligarch owner will strong Putin bum kissing abilities....

Looking at the history, dividend is closely tied to the profits of the period so I suspect that next one could be around or slightly over 10c. This would make it yield almost 3%. Decent.

After this dividend, has anyone any idea what amount the next divi will be?

Mary, the FRES production report has been a perennial disappointment... having said that, reading and re-reading the annual report, I get the feeling that they have been extra cautious with the production forecast. Therefore I loaded up ahead on this. Let's see if my hunch is right. Would make a really nice change.

Every time there is positive news on this, gold price caters which takes this down more than the news. We are so due a reverse...

I don't know if it is coincidence but the silver price action is looking strong compared to gold the last couple of days.
