Hi AO,
I’m only invested in Kefi (free ride) so not really invested there, Cora is a Mali gold mine with a great Ceo of the future coupled with a terms sheet for finance and the DFS isn’t even done yet, and Well, Cobr.....need I say more?
The others are copper plays like CCZ, RMM which is copper and gold, and PRE which is a magnet rare Earth metal miner. BRES is a jumbo graphite play.
The reason? Well, to be honest, it’s because of the currency issue, or rather the inflationary pressures on currency.
Think of this. The world is about to shift to electrification on a scale we have never seen. Cars, homes, lifestyles are all going electric. Green energy, non-coal, etc, but still gas and still oil for the foreseeable future. I’m playing a thematic game.
As cars, wind turbines and other devices require huge amounts of rare Earth magnets, (7.5 tonnes per single Halide wind turbine for example) I’ve plumped a chunk into PRE....and this is even before you think about all the cars rolling off the lines with 10kg in each. It’s a hedge.
Copper the same. You need enormous infrastructure upgrades of some incredible tonnage to upgrade the electricity network to carry the current required by all this cars charging day in, day out...air source heat pumps etc as we stop building homes with gas boilers. The gauge on the copper wires required is magnitudes bigger than we currently have and that’s a choke on the progression of total electrification. Demand is expected to be significant.
Likewise. Graphite is a fairly sizeable portion of a battery in said cars.
All said, I’ve taken a thematic stance, but my main play (and concern) is gold. I’ll be honest and say that the crypto environment scares me to my wits end. The worry is not that I won’t be invested, it’s that by some fluke, that the crypto world becomes reality during my journey to retirement and gold takes a back seat. I’ve pondered it and avoided it for years now, but I see that the likes of the Uber wealthy are pushing it.....tell me, when was the last time you saw Elon musk share his secrets? Or Michael saylor? Why are they so keen to get us buying Bitcoin? So they can offload, perhaps? Cynical? I hope I’m not right for the sake of those that invest. But I’ve decided to hedge into every industrial metal of critical nature for the green revolution.
I’m invested in other sectors too, but they are outliers which will add some diversification and are cyclical. Areas such as oil and gas. I don’t expect rocket ship returns from any of my investments over the short term, but I expect them to serve me well.
Eg. I bought SENX last month and am just shy of 80% as of today. It’ll do a bag this month for me, and another this year...... I have my exit target and I’ll stick to it. Likewise, Echo 60% in 8 weeks. Rmm 60% in 9 weeks
Patience, discipline and a thematic stance with good analysis on the detail and spending time to filter poor companies -it serves me well. Each to their own.
