I'm furious about the whole episode, but like you, I can't do anything about it. I do NOT want to own shares in a private company. I expect that the only communication you'd get is an annual report...

Yeah, BTC is sucking bigtime. Volume is poor. Seeing the volume is why I've been bearish for a while. I was tempted to buy some more RIOT, but resisted that temptation as well.

For sure - 100%. The technicals suck atm. Only an idiot would say otherwise. There is no way of knowing when it will turn. The chart certainly does not tell you. It gives you a hint of the trend, but that's it. It knows nothing of any pending news or the fundamentals.

If you want to play it safe, wait until it bounces into an uptrend for a couple of weeks and for covid to disappear and for the tooth fairy to arrive. You'll miss some of the rise, but that's life!

@pipedreamer: Early in my investment career I used to think that being a profitable investor required getting calls like this right.

It was only years later that I realised that most professional investors get it wrong - just like everybody else.

Furthermore, some of the most successful traders get it wrong most of the time. For example, Kristjan Qullamaggie makes money off 25% of his trades. He is still wildly profitable.

In summary. You don't need to 'get it right' to make money. It's what you do after you've entered the trade that matters most. There's a great discussion of this in 'The Art of Execution' by Lee Freeman-Shor.

I don't think the volume is big enough.

I am in two minds whether or not to increase my position here, because I think this could really move once funding is arranged. But I'm becoming impatient at the time it's taking to make any progress. I worry that the management have been watching glaciers too long...

I hope you're already retired at 49! I didn't achieve that, but I invest/trade fulltime and have been lucky enough to more than replace my City salary.

Let's hope this is finally turning the corner. It would make perfect sense for a fund to be buying into TGP after COP26.

I do not believe that the management are so foolish as to try and take this company private. I think that they might be be naive, but I don't think that they'd intentionally open themselves up to litigation by trying to take the company private on the sly. Even if that did happen, however unlikely, I still think that the company itself will be successful and that my investment will eventually be profitable.

These shares will *not* become worthless if the company is de-listed. Nothing will change, except that you will have shares in a private company. I am surprised that they are wantign to cut this so fine. It is highly irresponsible to leave it this close to the deadline.

It's simple. If BTC crashes, so will all the bitcoin miners, in exactly the same way as gold miners do when gold dumps. All miners behave more-or-less like a call option on the underlying, give-or-take. Some weeks back I remember one person saying how foolish I was to have 15% of my portfolio in crypto. I currently have 1%. I wish I only had 1% in gold miners.

Unless the fundamentals of CEY were to seriously change, there is no chance I will sell CEY. Long-term, I still think that gold *might* shine. Let's see.

Could the explanation be that those funds are actively trading in and out of miners? That's my suspicion. I saw a lot of that in RIOT. The spikes are often coming from the hedging of options. It also explains why the average holding time is so short.

I think the gold dump is due to the announcement.
I don't think the BTC one is.
I'm staying small in crypto for the moment until I see a clear direction.

Agree, would not touch MARA. Oh yes, I forgot about their legal issues....
RIOT looking quite interesting now though. Could be a nice swing trade for 20%. I'm not confident that the BTC correction is over yeat though, so am treading lightly.

I am both a long-term holder and a short-term trader of BOO. Every BOO trade has being profitable, so I don't see why listening to a chart astrologer is going to make me any more money...

Everything I posted is factual, from the Refinitiv/Stocko data, real broker ratings, target prices etc.... It's you and Pedro that post the opinions. I'm too busy trading to listen to lonely losers who don't have a position or are short.

BOO could even bounce 5% off 180p tomorrow.

Agree. I suspect that BOO is doing brilliantly. Any more lockdowns will only improve BOO's position further. And they have a superb new pipeline with the Debenhams Beauty, which will be bricks-and-mortar.

BOO is heavily attached by shorters. None of the large funds are reducing. It's that simple. I'll add significantly again once I see a bottom. Big drops like this make it all the easier and safer for me to increase my position size.

BOO has zero debt, a rock-solid balance sheet, a rapidly growing business, 90% upside. That's all I need to know here.

Looking pretty bearish for the US miners today; MARA/RIOT down ~8%. Not sure why, apart from the perception that BTC might continue to slide. Any another theory on why the miners are down today?

@Pedro: Go and do something useful with your life. BOO will make me a small fortune, son... No serious investor listens to guys like you.
