desperate roll of the dice21 Sep 2018 10:31
by the EU. The time has come to to make them appreciate that its better to have little bit of something than something of nothing. Their cavalier attitude to democracy and its processes if it happens to differ from their vision of a Federalist Superstate is scary and arrogant. Their obstinacy and intransigience demonstrates graphically that EU political "elite" are terrified at the prospect of us leaving and becoming a beacon for true freedom and commercial success illustrating that there is an alternative to subservience and centralised control. Maybe TM has given it her best shot to secure what she, as a Remainer but duty bound, believes to be best way forward and the time has come for a change of tactics and bringing on a substitute to that end. Markets still seem pretty sanguine and Sterling seems stable enough despite all the hyperventilating of the media. We are not stepping into the unknown - WTO rules are well understood by the rest of the world and provide a platform from which to strike future trade deals. The French are already worried that we drinking less champagne and Italians are moaning that prosecco sales are falling fast. Sales of English bubbly are rising and we have just had a monster vintage. The Europeans are blaming Brexit. It seems to me that if the EU continues with its hardball approach, this recent trend is unlikely to reverse any time soon as Sterling's value against the Euro, in addition to tariffs will make English bubbly competitive on taste AND price with the best that EU can offer. happy days!
