RE: Woodford ups stake again28 Nov 2014 13:43
Agreed. This is an important change of equity ownership which leaves TRX really well positioned for future growth. We've shifted a considerable proportion of equity from a very early-stage, high-risk, essentially, private individual investor in the shape of Griffiths, to a proper institutional one, albeit with woodford's higher than average risk tolerance for smaller growth companies. Griffiths is to be congratulated in identifying and backing TRX when he did. He has made a many multiples return on his investment and deserves it. Woodford clearly sees this as a longer term winner and can be a source of capital for TRX when/if required.
I think Odell is one of the most impressive CEOs I've seen for a long time.
As an aside, note that all the specialist event money in London/NY is betting that Smith & Nephew will be taken out imminently. TRX, as a medtech play, clearly fits as a target for a US corporate at some point in the future, particularly given its US product / sales focus. Medtech is very prone to M&A historically.
