Before mentioned that Hasina was going to China to sign a power contract. Now mentioned tonight that she is going for high level talks, with contracts inked in June (potentially). Which is it likely to be?!

PM Hasina accelerates coal projects as pre-approval for 3 projects granted ‪PM Sheikh Hasina has today pre-approved the mining rights for the Khalasphir, Phulbari and Digipara coal projects. Final approval is based on certain conditions being met in regards to % of government royalties and redeployment of communities which will be displaced. All this is part of the overall Bangladesh power strategy which is now being accelerated.‬ This is very timely with coal imports from India's Meghalaya state to Bangladesh recently being stopped following an order of the Supreme Court in the neighbouring country. Occurrences like this will continue and Bangladesh now needs to become self sufficient when it comes to power and energy. Bangladesh imports coal from India through Barchhara, Charagaon and Bagli border check posts in Sunamganj and Tamabil land port in Sylhe Final closure for the the three deals are expected in early April before Hasina travels to China to meet with investors and representatives.
