LONDON MARKET EARLY CALL: New Virus Variant In England Spooks Markets(Alliance News) - Stocks in London are set to open lower on Monday as a new Covid-19 variant led ...
21 December 2020
(Alliance News) - Stocks in London are set to open lower on Monday as a new Covid-19 variant led to further restrictions in the UK and travel bans from Europe.
IG says futures indicate the FTSE 100 index of large-caps to open 63.28 points lower, or 1.0%, at 6,465.90 on Monday. The FTSE 100 closed down 21.88 points, or 0.3%, at 6,529.18 on Friday.
The lower open in London comes as things have gone from "bad to worse" in terms of virus restrictions in the UK, said CMC Markets's David Madden.
"London and large swathes of south east England have entered Tier 4. The Scottish government is advising people not to enter the country, while Wales has heightened restrictions too. Rising case numbers because of the new Covid-19 strain brought about the new measures," said Madden.
He added: "Even though yesterday was originally cited as the deadline for UK-EU trade talks, it is understood that differences still remain and that discussions will continue today. Given how things have gone so far, it was hardly a surprise. This comes at a time when many countries in mainland Europe are also struggling to keep a lid on their own situation – a number of countries have extended their lockdowns into mid-January. The airline sector is likely to be in focus today for all the wrong reasons."

If you are new to Bahamas Petroleum probably missed a couple of excellent videos below on why drill Perseverance1

My own view
On arrival at drilling, location would probably be a day and a half to deploy transponders and position the rig. They can be running conductor with the jetting assembly while they position the rig. As soon as the rig is positioned pretty much ready to spud by jetting in the conductor. If no problems & all going well would be around Monday 21st spud date. Good luck to
all the IceMax crew involved who are working through Christmas & New Year...I fully expect the news will filter through
usual channels sometime in Jan 2021 due to huge interest worldwide...If I was to hazard a guess would be 2 billion +

I agree with the professional view of CoMan on the 8th Dec said
"Think the 22nd to 24th is realistic for spud. It makes no sense to leave Freeport until all the equipment they need for the top 2 sections of the well are on the rig - ie jetting 36" conductor, and then drilling 26" hole and running and cementing 20" casing. That way they can carry on with spud preparations while sailing to the location, they can't offload boats while they are positioning the rig on the well location so best to get kit on in Freeport.
Most likely the 15th will be an inefficient day as all the contractor personnel they need for drilling (Halliburton, Baker etc) will be joining the rig and going through their safety inductions so they'll probably need another 3 days in Freeport to get everything offloaded and all the bulk materials on that they need. They don't gain anything by leaving early anyway as they have to rig up the mud logging unit and MWD/LWD unit, it's probably a day and a half sail to location and a further day and half to deploy transponders and position the rig. They can be running conductor with the jetting assembly while they position the rig so as soon as the rig is positioned they should be pretty much ready to spud by jetting in the conductor. Think that would be around the 22nd or 23rd if everything goes ok"

Mark@1973 re 21.14 post
thanks for sharing...interesting to hear from Bahama residents who are happy Bahamas Petroleum have arrived to drill
Stena Icemax at anchor 62 miles off Freeport beside
an US offshore supply ship.
I feel sure you will find Stena IceMax will anchor off Freeport, if only because the ports cargo pier has a maximum allowable depth of 9.1 meters. The Stena Icemax draft is 12 meters according to the Stena own ship's specifications
Freeport anchorage depth: 76 feet - OVER 23.2m (facts source: Freeport harbour authority)
Also, I agree with the view of the respected poster CoMan's who has years of experience in present-day offshore drillship operations he said...
"They would never go onto a dock in Freeport but it makes sense to anchor up a few miles offshore which allows them to efficiently load the rig by working the supply boats on both sides of the rig. There will be a lot of people joining the rig in freeport and probably a few leaving so they can easily achieve that with a crew change vessel "
