And as you know , that is only one of the travesties in Spain. Job creation for people of no intelligence or deliberately obstructive. This applies to town halls , banks ( charge for everything , including issuing a bank card ) , land registry , no records beyond last purchase, they get out a John Bull printing set and wait for the next mug to screw. Post office don't deliver any where past where they have coffee and only open for two hours, 3 days a week. I needed a piece of glass cut many years ago , it will be ready x day, after three visits I gave up and went to Worthing glass and got it within 10 minutes , much easier than trying in Spain. This is only scratching the surface , getting a fishing licence takes 3 trips to Vlencia. To top it all , my partners parents died 25 years ago , it costs 500 per 5 years to maintain the stone box. My partners sister was due to pay the last time , but forgot. So the staff open the box and put her parents bones in a dustbin liner and put them in a shed. My partner went to pay , which involves volumes of paperwork , at the end of filling in the forms they still wouldn't do put them back.....Why....the forms needed her parents signature. Another 3 months of going from one side of Valencia depots to the other before the matter was done with. This is only an insight to never ending agro of incompetence of the bloody ingrates here. Any mistakes made by them , you have to do the legwork.
I completely forgot the pineapples , you see a pina @ 1 or 1.2 and think yummy. The small print is per kilo. NO pina for me , plus they are all green. Another thing in Spain is that there is no second hand car market. The government in its greed tax every change of vehicle. I bought a 2009 Citroen C4 off my mate for 2K , the government valued it at 5,500 and the tax came to nearly 500. Money grabbing has killed the market and the price of used cars here is insane. Anyone thinking of moving to Spain should bring an English car and get it re registered here. costs about 1,200-1,500 , but the same Spanish car will be 30 - 40% dearer and still have tax added. There are so many things that are crap here , that needn't be. Also, there is no national road tax price , each village decides how much to charge and if you sell it, even if there is 11 months tax left, they basically say F U no rebate. My village , Turis , is cheaper than Bunol , Tomatina famously , which only 8 miles away. They make it up as they go along. I will have to top posting , i'm getting myself agitated. ATB . PS, it shows how bad England has become that I cannot face going back.
It is so sad that they take perfectly good ingredients , then cook them to destruction. Also , no flair , looks like they have plated up from 10 ft away , just a bloody mess. They obviously haven't heard of peas, carrots , broccoli etc. Just two overboiled pots and a soggy green pepper here. All chips are frozen undercooked yellow limp mac don's twigs. Never a roasty anywhere. Most fish boiled and watery. Another issue is the price of nuts , ie Almonds , the country is covered in them , but can't afford to buy them £14 per kilo, in the shell. Another thing , one can buy Spanish veg cheaper in England , also that Chernobyl by product , Haribo is a fraction of the price in UK , but tin of 'Roses ' is £12 here.
I am guessing you are further south than me , therefore a more international cuisine and trained the locals to adhere to edible fayre. Valencia is not only poor food , they make sure that it is barely tepid before they serve to the table. The Spanish are a noisy crowd , but the locals take it to a new level , impossible to hear one another here. .It's so bad I can hear two farmers whispering 4 miles away.
I will have to by a lottery ticket...I agree with you yet again. The sad part of this is that Spain grows fresh veg , so dining should be a pleasant experience , but no. They serve frozen veg or boil the boll icks out of it , turning it into baby food. I watch the equivalent of MasterChef here and they wax lyrical over an overcooked stew. Paella or stew , sum total of their culinary expertise.
If you are there , I have a certain sympathy for your position . I very nearly followed you from Voda to LLoyds , when Lloyds were approx. 50p and Voda were barely 1.50. I stated back then that I would hang back for a while , thank big G that I have .Voda now 1.63 and Lloyds not moving by much. Bloody annoying , I hope things turn round for you . I will be joining you before the year is out , I hope.
I rarely agree with your posts , quoting official statistics. Spain is not doing at all well in reality. The country is at a standstill , unfinished projects , people relying on debt to pay for basics. No competition at supermarkets , eg potatoes at £1.29 a kilo , milk 1.69 for 1.5 litre etc etc. However, you are allowed to park on zebra crossings to buy fags, you can double park and the local police will guard it for you. The most refreshing element of the police is if you are causing problems they carry out summary justice, they don't say mind your head SIR as they put you in the patrol car ,,they bang some sense into you on the roof before carrying you off. On the subject of rules and parking restrictions in England , I could not agree more , it's what drove me out of England 12 years ago , along with the floodgates opening under the Blair government. Expats bring money in not suck it out unlike the cabbage pickers on such low wages that no tax is liable allowing them to send a fortune in their eyes back to the Neanderthals in their country of origin.
Another thing , although I still think of my country as home , approx. only 100 years ago we were the richest and most powerful nation on earth. However, what was the lot of the working class , absolute crap. One of the wedding gifts from the families was to have all the brides teeth removed so that she would not be a burden on her husband at the dentists. The pendulum has swung too far the other way sadly , now it is a career move to churn out the next generation , not supported by a partner or partners , but by the tax payer. By the way, we are in the state we are in by saving the French twice and being left in hock to the US ever since. Lease lend for us , Marshall plan for Germany. Thanks a million or billion (s) USA
Most nations get the government they deserve. In the next election , instead of a clear out , the apathetic drones will put their mark where they have done all their life. The amount of interviews where ex tories are going back cos of Boris. Fine , at least he is trying , but ultimately he will bring back May's deal for no other reason than he has been given no choice. A bigger problem is the insidious invasion of councils and political movements by Asians in the cities and cabbage pickers in the East of England , not that I can blame them if we can't be bothered to care about where we live. By contrast , expats in Europe put money into the system , buying property , employing 'tradesmen ' ??.. yet we take no interest or try to change anything in their adopted country. Nothing like what is happening in the old country. The next election , if no major change , will be the last chance to save what we perceive England to be , although I fear it is too late.
A very rare and comprehensive balanced view. I do not concur with all aspects , but it is more convincing than much of the uninformed diatribe posted all too regularly. Keep it up , even though not my perspective entirely.
I see you have succumbed to 3 years MSM. Crashing out...did you mean leaving on WTO , that would be a catastrophe !! Outrageous that we deliver the vote to leave by over 430 constituencies out of 650 . There's the over 60% that the remoaners say should be needed to win
I remember Poseidon , rocketed . But then collapsed equally rapidly. I think this will be another pump and dump. I have stopped buying discoveries and only buy producers now.. Lost too much money on discoveries like TRP and BOR etc. I hope I am wrong for the present investors , but buyers beware.
I concur with your view of appalling spelling , basic stuff like loose instead of lose , there instead of their etc. You always get lame excuses from the culprits . Any mistakes by you are either accidents or deliberate. Dat's wot I fink n e way.
I can't argue with your logic but I see Voda static for a long period and a pitiful divi whereas Lloyds can give me a better return of divi even if the sp falls through the floor. I would expand on my reasoning , but my computer is so slow that it has taken 25 minutes to type , poor connection. I haven't jumped yet. Thanks for your comments though. ATB
As I posted a few weeks ago , 1.50 will be a staging post until divi is incrementally increased. November will be the next clue , if no positive move on divi then it is going to be a long haul . I will take a loss on Voda , circa 30K , if Lloyds drop to mid 40's returning a higher % divi and a slim chance of rising back to the 50's long term
