OK, technically my post was not 100% factually correct, but with Palladium getting all of the headlines, and the fact that it's $2600(ish) per oz I wanted to make the point that there IS buoyant market even for out "inexpensive" other metal, and outside of the catalytic converter use.

EV's are the immediate future BUT Hydrogen fuel cells are probably the long term futures greatest star on the horizon.

China will require vast quantities of these metals, along with PGM'S.

Will it be a total sale? I believe so, why would the company sell already "world class assets" and then form a JV?
The existing assets are of low risk, "easy" open pit mining, soft rock, no blasting, literally a JCB or two is all that's required to remove the ore for the wash plant. No taking mine shafts down 1 or 2 km to reach the PGM's.
I don't know anymore than anyone else here but I can see a bloody good company that NO "major" is going to want to miss out on!

We would probably keep our shares and a dividend payed on the value of the asset sold.

Yes, if you don't have divi stocks at the moment identify companies which have a long history of paying them.
Look for opportunities when the share prices are depressed, oil and gas is a prime example at the moment!
Spread your "risk" over several sectors, say,
1. Oil and gas
2. Mining
3. Pharmaceuticals
Then you'll have a core holding and you can speculate with the rest!

*When I say a bit more security I mean rather than investing the whole amount into AIM

Agree with Ian here,
Cash isa is really a waste of time with interest rates how they are.
If you want a "bit more security" for this money then I would look at DIVIDEND paying ft100 shares.
Even with companies paying reduced divi's due to Covid you can earn say 5% per annum.
I would also advise paying down debt if you have any.
