Oil and Gas Sub-sector

Honourable Speaker, the Government will continue to manage and develop the Oil and Gas Subsector by taking various measures, with the aim of ensuring that the contribution of this sector to the development of our nation is strengthened.

The Government will continue with oil and natural gas exploration activities in strategic blocks and construct a 34.2 km long natural gas pipeline from the Ruvuma (Ntorya) block to Madimba with a capacity of 140 million cubic feet per day. In addition, the Government expects to complete negotiations on the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Processing and Processing Agreements project so that its implementation can begin.

ARA were not invested (Officially farmed out interest Oct 2020, Farmout agreement agreed 2018)

Had not discovered gas in commercial quantities at Ntorya (2012 Drilled NT-1)

Madimba GPP had not been constructed (commissioned 2015)

Pipeline to Dar Salam to Madimba had not been constructed (Commissioned 2015)

3D seismic of Ntorya area had not been completed (2021 - 2023)

Had a development licence granted (2024)

Ntorya GSA Awarded (2024)

In reality ARA have achieved more in the last 4 years than the 11 years before. Much of the problems have been with Tanzanian authorities stalling progress. Without much of the above, no point drilling.

I do strongly believe the pipeline from Ntorya to Madimba will be built this year and CH-1 drilled once M&P have finished their campaign. So expect Q3 / Q4 Drill this year.

In that case TZ might have 20 to 30 years of riding the crest of a wave for us to enjoy ;)

Thats why LNG is so important. If they have the will to get that built, LNG will provide a large amount of revenue for the country in addition providing many new jobs.

Furthermore they can also look to export spare electricity to other countries which will bring additional revenue.

Of course, could be years away but if they have the resource and desire then Tanzania will become richer as a result.

Could you kindly share the source to where it informs that the Auditors have resigned?

If LNG ever becomes a thing in TZ, if the resource is as big as we think it could be then why couldn't Aminex be worth north of £500m.

It would be faster and cheaper to tie in the onshore asset before the offshore ones. Although you could argue that if Shell and Equinor are funding the LNG terminal then they would want to look after their assets first which are offshore.

If someone felt compelled to email them they could ask for their view on this graph that they were all too happy to share at the AGM last year and point out where the SP is now and ask them why they think the sp is now 50% lower.

I suspect they dont actually care about the current sp as AEX is all but owned by ARA and anyone trying to buy it would be stopped in their tracks, furthermore any delays would just result in AEX using up its cash reserve until it eventually gets into production. It would have been prudent at the time of agreeing that farm out agreement that any cash would get interest which over the years most probably would have covered day to day operational costs.

But hey ho gives us long termers a chance to keep topping up at these low levels.
