Metals now going down like a fat kid in a sack race. If silver goes back to $60 (not necessarily overnight), miners will give up two years of gains (despite the fact they'd still be making bank). Behold! The "free market's" finest hour.

So, what have we witnessed recently?

AI Guy appears out of nowhere and is suddenly everywhere, pumping silver...

CRIMEX hikes margins twice in a week (each time in thin trading)...

SGE hikes margins (to coincide with the second CRIMEX hike)...

And no-one wants to admit they've been played???

It seems that 1.4 BILLION oz of silver (about 20 months worth of global supply) was dumped on the CRIMEX yesterday, helping to achieve the PM super smash.

Silver closed in Shanghai at $85.88 (equivalent). That's nearly a $10 arbitrage after CRIMEX margin increases had the "desired" effect. That gap must surely close quickly.

Surely the geniuses at the CRIMEX realise that by Smashing down prices in the West, they just encourage the arbitrage play and actually ACCELERATE the flow of metal from West to East? They MUST know that: so what's their game?

Silver up over 10% today. Major US silver miners (Coeur, Hecla, First Majestic, Pan American & Endeavour Silver) could barely manage 2% gains.

Pathetic!

This stock should be £38 on Monday...but it won't be. I don't know what's going on with the mining stocks ATM. The only thing I can think of is that they MUST be kept down so they don't steal the MAG7 limelight.

Margins are ENORMOUS at these prices. It's about time it was reflected in valuations.

This is beyond ridiculous now. Why take added equity risk for underperformance when you can just own the physical??? I took profits at £25. Think I'll sell another load (across my portfolio). The CRIMEX can f' us over at any time, and we've already seen how eager the miners are to shat the bed at the slightest hint of a downturn. Nobody ever went bust taking profits...& I can do something with the money.

Since the UK market closed yesterday, silver is up a Dollar & gold is up 50 Bucks! What did we do: hedge 80% of our production at $40 p/oz???

@Craigo123, I am equally frustrated. With costs long since covered by the silver price, every $ Increase on an oz is pure profit. The share price should be significantly higher. Q3 average silver price was around $39 p/oz: with the year nearly over, the average Q4 silver price is around $52...and we presumably start Q1 with a silver price around $70 p/oz.

Ironically, FRES is one of the better performing silver miners in Q4. The likes of Coeur, Fortuna and Endeavour Silver are below the levels they achieved back in October, despite silver now being $14 p/oz higher. It's madness! Frustration is not the word.

No: I hadn't heard about the $15 premium. If Fresnillo were to confirm that, it would be big news, but we need that confirmation.

We all saw what happened on Friday when the CRIMEX raised margins (from 20 to 22%). Let's hope tomorrow isn't a bloodbath.
