Roofer61, The $173 price is for proof coins, but even the standard BU ASE is now $169: it was less than $100 earlier this week.

The BU ASE is the US equivalent of a Britannia, so I'd disagree that the price rise only affects "collectable coins".

DucatiMan, welcome to the PAAS & Hecla club. I've been particularly pleased with Hecla: it was under $4 barely two years ago.

Silver up $3 from yesterday's UK market close, but somehow we're red.

We've had one Hell of a profitable 12 months, but that doesn't stop me getting hacked-off at the complete decoupling between silver miners and the metal that we've seen across the sector recently.

Maybe this changes with Q4 earnings, but my concern is that PMs get Smashed before then, and the miners follow suit.

Mining stocks significantly under-performing the metals again...both here and across the pond.

Silver just opened at $99.44 (equivalent) in Shanghai.

It also seems that the CME are now offering 100oz pure PAPER "silver" contracts. Yes...no option to take delivery. What does THAT tell you!

Silver closed up 12% (not a typo) in Shanghai overnight.

Silver taking another leg up now, yet this is slowly sliding 🤦‍♂️

Still waiting for the MonkeyHammer. It'll come either as a paper dump (disguised as "commodities rebalancing"), or via CRIMEX margin hikes (as another poster alluded).

Taking profits (30% of holding) at £25 doesn't seem so clever now, but I wasn't prepared to ride it up and then all the way back down again, like in 2020. 2021-2024 were dark years.

The entire sector has underperformed the metals for months now. Hopefully Q4 earnings will spark a major catch-up.

And whilst we're on the subject, fund managers have a responsibility to maximise returns for investors, so in the event that they do dump en masse, they are LEGALLY NEGLIGENT. Makes me want to go buy some Bloomberg Commodities so I can sue the pants off them should they do it.

Furthermore, do you really want to invest in a fund that sells its best performers? Hey, Bloomberg: ever thought about revising your PM allocations HIGHER and making MORE money for your investors???

Look at the one day graph for silver. It was clearly capped at $82.50 overnight (for 90 minites) before getting Smashed $2.50 in just quarter of an hour...then taken down a further $1.50 to the low.

Don't worry: the regulators will get right on it /s

@Dark_Knight2020, I couldn't say for sure, but my best guess is that the market is not yet convinced by the silver breakout (understandable, to a degree, IMHO).

If the silver price can hold above $70 until Q4 earnings are released, reality may then set in, and the combination of record Q4 earnings, and even better to come in Q1 will be too much for the market to ignore.

A word of warning: talk across the pond is that Bloomberg will be rebalancing their commodities index between 8th - 14th of January, and this will supposedly involve the large-scale dumping of silver futures contracts...so we may see a series of silver smashes over the next week or so.

@Dark_Knight2020, it's the same across the sector. Despite an excellent 2025 overall, miners have significantly underperformed the metals for months now. Across the pond, most miners are still below their October highs...when silver was THIRTY Dollars p/oz LOWER.
