I'll have one last attempt. Let me put it this way.
If cell death > cell growth, then tumour regression
If cell death < cell growth, then tumour growth (e.g. an aggressive cancer)
A biospy will not tell you this. Measuring the tumour(s) will.
For this trial, neither dose nor frequency of dosing have been optimised. The tumours may be regressing. Ones that aren't may be caused to regress by upping the dose and/or the dosing frequency. Monitoring of size will be by scanning (X-ray, CT or whatever), not by biopsy.
I'd be very surprised if tumour sizes are not being monitored by scans in this trial.
