It is no secret that small biopharma companies need cash to progress their candidates through clinical trials. Tha tis absolutely normal. However...

Avacta is well funded through Phase 1. Adequate licence deals or company buyout are the most likely ways for further trials to be financed. Any dilutive fundraiser would be on the back of a highly successful Phase 1 and at a much higher SP. What's not to like?..

Phase 1b may be more expensive, particularly if a lot of it is carried out in the US, although a grant from the FDA under ODD would make those trials a lot cheaper if it could be obtained.

Probably, unlike you, they've decided to do things in the right order and at the appropriate time.

Future nondilutive funding will come from licence agreements.

So Richard has heard rumours but won't say from whom. Others are saying others, respected posters, have also heard the rumours, but won't say who they are. This has all the hallmarks of the usual suspects, having bought at the ridiculously low recent prices, now pumping to make a bit of profit/reduce their cost average even more. I'll wait for a company announcement.

If, and it's a big IF, C5 has finished without tox issues then we're in for a long summer wait for MTD or BED.

Alan said he expected to find MTD in C5 or C6 by mid year AS LONG AS THERE AREN'T DELAYS - i.e. patients dropping out, etc.

Only a fool would think that Alan and Avacta are failing if they don't keep to a 'timeline' where they don't have control over patients being in/out of the trial.

And anyone expecting to be informed about progress mid-cohort is ignoring both history and what Alan has said about 'just getting on with it' and should maybe just be giving their comfort blankets extra big hugs whilst they wait.

C5 started 5 April. On 25 April, AS was still confident enough to say that MTD would be found in C5 or C6 if there aren't any hitches. We are now 10 weeks into C5.

C5 is taking a long time which strongly suggests patients are dropping out. Whether that is due to DLTs or for other reasons will determine whether we're approaching MTD or will just have to wait for C5 to complete and then move on to C6.

Throw in that Chris Twleves said, following the completion of C4, that we were a long way from MTD and the situation becomes very muddy - either MTD has suddenly come upon us with that extra 50mg/m² (a 25% increase) or we're in for a long, long wait to find MTD.

But I think you had it approximately right. However I think they will be working on levels that will maximise cancer cell death and minimise leakage of doxorubicin. For that it would be useful to know how much FAP is present - maybe something they could expand on at the AGM presentation? Remember that not all cancer cells will be dividing, and hence will not be susceptible to doxorubicin's action, at the same time, so administering multiple 'smaller' doses, which would also cause fewer and less severe side effects, seems the best way forward. 'Smaller' being a relative term here.

Different cancers and patients at different stages of cancer will have different amounts of TME and FAP, so..

I was in briefly and out at a comparatively small loss some time ago. I've finally learnt my lesson. I was wary of investing in a company run by Irishmen as, in my personal experience, the Irish are full of sh ite - all talk and no substance - but I foolishly went ahead based on the Modern Water story. Anyway, as I said, I've learnt my lesson. Never again will I invest in a company run by Irish people.
