I agree RD but it is important to define AVA6000's parameters first, not just for AVA6000 itself but for the pre|CISION platform as a whole. Although, as AVA3996 has a different leaving group, so the 5140 work can't transfer across, there will be a lot of work need doing on that drug's pro-drug capability (as well as the 'new' bortezomib analogue efficacy.
It is worth bearing in mind that no appreciable work has been reported on any follow-on pipeline pre|CISION drugs. Work on AVA6000 and AVA3996 started way back with Professor William Bachovchin at Tufts University Medical School. I have never seen any others exemplified, which is a good thing (if they really haven't been exemplified), as once exemplified the patent life, if patentable because non-obvious, starts running down.
Also agree about Affimers, although novel Affimers can be patented at any time whilst the basic tech has patent protection if they are shown to have commercial possibilities. But yeah, lots of academic papers, very little in the way of commercial partnerships.
As regards the 'university research approach' I thought Science Day was a real missed opportunity. What a hotchpotch of practical information about pre|CISION and deep, detailed lectures about complex topics with nothing tying the whole lot together. Could have had an overview of cancer treatments (showing where AVA6000 fitted in) and another on the causes and severity of chemo side-effects (and how AVA6000 seems to obviate most of them). Keep it relevant to the matter in hand! It wasn't a medical school module.
