gkb - There has never been a guarantee here - mere hopefulness/speculation that there will be a pot of gold.

I have heard far too many AIM directors telling us mere speculators that something will occur, in the near term, soon, imminently and most other forms of that terminology. I now see these comments with a big scoop of salt, though I am sure some do follow through quite quickly.

As for this recent Potter quote, I give him the benefit of the doubt this once as I expect he really thought it was imminent - I would hope he did seeing we had had 4 months of exclusive talks.

I liked todays little spike and would hope it continues in between opening and the New Year close.

Pointless complaining about a lack of update when the rules say you cannot/should not update a whole lot of nothing.

Lots of people are paid a lot more for doing less. You just have to turn on the television when they are showing our house of commons - never mind the house of lords.

Issuing an RNS with no news would be farcical, nonetheless I have to agree the lack of anything is extremely frustrating and to an extent maddening. I could suggest "No news is good news" though that would be as frustrating as suggesting "patience is needed".

For the sake of my sanity and negative energy I keep my glass half full as difficult as it is. Like Spiritefan I should have sold up in June though that hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing.

We have had a couple of snippets of information from Ben Profitt but as has been said before it was the same old. That being said, had it been markedly different we would be asking other questions. As it is the same old we can perhaps assume we are still on the slow and steady course of signing off a deal sometime in the "how long is a piece of string?" future that we abide in.

Nothing has changed here since August other than a drop in poo and of course the SP.

Harry - the payment in shares situation - if I am correct - they only get them on closure of a deal - so presently they are not a tangible asset at this time.

In other words the share accrual is worthless unless they deliver.

Begger - I concur it will be many years before we are fossil free, however, as we know already 10 years plus down the line that time goes by quite quickly.

As the target for the UK for banning the sale of petrol and diesel cars is currently set at 2040 - there are moves afoot to bring this forward.

There are many countries where the population do not have access to cars now never mind in 2040.

Oil products will have a lifespan way past that 2040 deadline - so I concur that oil still have a long shelf life, however, perhaps not in the massive quantities that is used today.

Harry - The majority of people who have taken the time to speak with BPC speak with Ben as he is the company secretary but also as you will know the director of finance.

Granted as you say = responses are the 'same old' - but without a guaranteed deal signed what would we expect?

The positives are that a) he is willing to field calls and b) he remains positive that a deal will be brokered.

If you look at the board's overall remuneration package we can see it is weighted heavily towards a positive outcome in that the massive share packages they have accrued in lieu of salaries will only be allotted officially WHEN the deal is done.

for taking the time to - initially making/taking that phone call - secondly, for updating the board.

Far too many folk on here who would rather shout down the company and its board members that take that same amount of time to pick up the phone and make the call.

Whilst I can concur a little with the same old same old comments - we have a difference in that we have the involvement of Macquarie - this is a bit different to the previous updates, coupled with the apparent congruence with the BG.

Now shut people down with positivity as much as you will - BUT - we are in a different territory than we were 12 months ago.

Harry - that is of course the $64,000 question. Of course I cannot give an answer to that.

What I do know is I am as concerned about my investment as much as the next and I am hoping we get the result I want.

The seismic studies have been checked and double checked by Moyes and co which as we all know are well respected so I believe it is there. We are in a hostility free environment - perhaps not politically stable.

We were in exclusive talks with strict NDA in place, therefore I do not expect to learn the reason they ceased the exclusivity. We were told by RNS negotiations (with whomever) were still ongoing and of course we expect to be informed soon what the results are.

Let us hope we do get it - It's Christmas after all.

harry - it is well known that there is some good contact between the company and some posters on here. I would not write off comment that Royscott spoke with someone (probably Ben Proffit) from the company. Whilst the information will not have been market sensitive there will be something in the enthusiasm of the call or lack of.

One would suppose the company are more likely to respond to a well presented and thought out query, rather than the usual rant and rave that usually end up in a company inbox.

on the trades side of things. We have had a little rise and a little fall back to where we were. Nothing has fundamentally changed over the past few weeks - those mighty trades we saw a few weeks ago do not appear to have been sold off.

We have less than a couple of weeks until that man in the red suit begins emptying his sack in people's bedrooms.

Whether he give us all an early or late Christmas present remains to be seen.

PI - you are correct - my thoughts were that any major would need to spend (perhaps not as much money as has been spent already due to new technology) a lot of time and money in order to obtain the data already in existence.

It is not a particularly strong position for BPC, however, with the rush to trash the use of fossil fuels, perhaps the time factor plays in.

It is extremely frustrating for many, especially when we get more news about structure discoveries in nearby seas.

I cannot see how the situation can be dragged out for much longer for the reason above. The window will be closing,

We know that BPC have invested well over $100,000,000 in seismic and other investigations - that is a fair chunk of money.

So where are BPC - Currently NOT an oil producer.
BPC is basically the holder of key to where the (believed) oil reserves are.

It did take some time to obtain the results which have been pored over by majors for the past decade or so.

I ask myself - would an oil major wish to just buy all the data and get on with it themselves?

If so perhaps the sticking point is that BPC wish to become an oil producer too rather than just the plebs who did the initial donkey work who just get a couple of hundred million instead of a chunk of the billions. I know which I would be hanging out for - though the old adage of 100% of nothing is nothing. 10% of billions is perhaps worth holding out for.

VCB2 - I concur with you. Certainly wasn't meant as a criticism of the post.

There have been a number of tasty trades that have gone through recently under the radar. On the flip side there have been some sell trades showing too.

I am hoping that someone in a bright red suit with white trip brings everyone a little happiness on the run up to the festivities. Speaking of which the first of a number of celebratory festive nights is only hours away.

VCB2 - whilst I concur it is a decent buy at start of play - that being backed up with another pair of 200,000 buys - in the big scheme of things the SP of BPC has not massively changed for some time so putting around 8 grand in here presently is sort of a safe bet. Not looking as though the buyer would lose half in a short time, however, the potential gain on the deal is a good shout.

The thing is - if people have the courage to take a bit of time and make that contact, they should not be dismissed outright.

They perhaps should be allowed, first to digest the conversation and then perhaps give a reasoned update as opposed to a verbatim account.

My thoughts initially was that there would be some news fairly quickly then deja vu crept in.

The problem with AIm is that directors seem to use the whole array of terminology that relate to soon and they just leave investors hoping and wishing. The reality is that something will happen at some stage. Whether than be catastrophic or as we had in May 2018 something stratospheric. (I use that terminology with tongue in cheek).

In the meantime we are left to mull over what could have been and what could be in the future.

I remain glass half full - otherwise I would be constantly glass empty and a pile of empty bottles in the wheelie bin.

We are where we are - similar to the doldrums over the past decade other than our brief journey into happiness earlier in the year. I hear the man in the red outfit is prowling around. Hopefully he will bring a bit of good news our way. Of course if you don't believe in the red man you may not believe in SP either.
