The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
seamus - if you look back through this board, you will see many folks' guestimates on what the SP will be at certain milestones.
Very few have been correct - you would get a similar result by standing in Bond Street asking a bunch of randomers to be honest.
There are still too many unknowns to be discovered. Dulution/Mergers/Farm-In etc.
Some years and a lot less shares ago - when not in a position to drill - we were all touting an 87p party. Some would now be happy with 8.7p to be honest.
Nobody knows what the price will be. Some even expected 12p or more just on spud - but you know where we are presently and 12p was not too much of a crazy guess.
Set your bar low and you will not be too disappointed if it hits double figures. BWTFDIK Stay safe ;@)
iamrich - no guarantees I'm afraid. We have suffered many false dawns over the decade-plus that I have been here.
I have stopped trying to second guess the situation as it generally leads to misery lol ;@)
That said, should we discover commercial oil in sufficient quantities there will be an awful lot of interest.
Whether anyone gets to produce of course is another matter the way things stand. I am on the positive side for production, especially if the estimated numbers come through - who would want to leave a few billion barrels of oil under the sea if you can pay off a big debt with the proceeds.
I am sure we will learn something new tomorrow.
Stay safe all ;@)
Seems like the Chinese have purchased Bird Cay in Berry Islands Bahamas. A handful of locals are unimpressed as reported on the FB page 242 in the know.
Just for clarity PoC - Clare Montgomery is the QC acting for BPC - she is not the judge.
The total number of votes cast 3528 - numbers seem around what they were last time I looked. About 76% vs 24%.
The Change poll is now up to just shy of 86k so going up but very slowly.
As usual, not many folks are commenting upon the thread from the Tribune vote page - The fact of the matter is, there are very few comments on any of the articles published online by any of the local papers. In fact, there is only one anti who is determined to fight on.
...the drill keeps on turning and the supplies are still arriving.
The noise that has been in the background like a mosquito or an ALF will soon be a thing of the past.
Good posts PoC - Very Good.
In the big scheme of things the later news item to the RNS featured in this thread suggests the between 25 and 35% cos/pos equals a very biased and upbeat note: -
Mr Potter said this far exceeded the oil industry's typical 5-10 per cent average, with Moyes & Co verifying that the amount of oil economically recoverable from BPC's southern Bahamian licence fields ranges from a mean of 8.3 billion barrels to "an upside" of 28 billion barrels.
"I wouldn't go as far to say it's a 'dead cert', but on a normal basis, the probability of geological success is in the 1/10 and 1/20 range. This is 1/4, 1/3."
So no matter how you try and twist the equation - the chances of success are very high in the industry targets as a whole.
NO GUARANTEES of course BUT
"Applying a recovery factor in the range of 20 per cent to 40 per cent to the Moyes [economically recoverable] volumes would result in an unrisked Estimated Ultimate Recoverable (EUR) in the range of 1.6 billion to 3.3 billion barrels (mean), and up to 11 billion barrels (upside)."
We have said many times on this BB that there are no guarantees and folks need to do their own research before throwing in money they should be able to afford to lose.
Whilst you and others Proselenes may try and convince folks with repetition and your own theories - I tend to go with the glass half full way - that way I keep my hair, and my nails grow. I do not sit wringing my hands with worry about what will or will not occur.
I know life is but part of a journey and I prefer to live in the moment and accept what life throws at me.
I have had some lemons but I have never had to worry about them or let them get in the way of progress.
Stay safe
Proselenes - the earlier the better really then we can commence another campaign of "what if?" scenarios as the current one has me quite bored.
Stay safe and enjoy the New Year and see how it unfolds - some will win, some will lose and others have their own agenda in life.
Proselenes - I love your sense of adventure - I loathe anyone brimming with delight at how much they have made trading when so many folks go hungry.
I would hope you donated some of your gains to good causes to help those less fortunate. I would also wish that you also donate some of your time to help too. However, it would appear you would rather spread some kind of disharmony to suit your own ego.
Nothing you post recently has been to assist any member of this bulletin board. Your incessant negativity shows a contemptuous side especially as far as your opinion goes.
I suggested a lengthy timescale rather than a shorter-term timescale for official results. It may well be that the news is so great that it would be rude not to give shareholders welcome news, having had a torrid time with the SP of late.
You may remain glass empty, whilst the majority remain half-full.
Your assumption of Not Long To Wait, may also be correct, however as another load of kit is sailing towards the SIM, to continue to drill deeper and deeper, which suggests there will be continued drilling - we will be able to observe the HOS Clearview delivering supplies as they go.
By now, one would have expected the drill to have entered an area of interest. The two supply vessels have been busy and one would expect them to remain busy until February.
As for Proactive - the drill was expected to run until end of January and perhaps into February - so January sounds good to me.
Stay safe all ;@)
So "But dont compare North Sea Pc figures with Wildcat middle of nowhere figures"
Had we are drilling in the middle of nowhere - what is all the fuss about?
You have seen the figures quoted in the article I linked to - that was back in 2018 when the environmentalists perhaps should have gone in for a stop of the drill.
Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico and the USA - last I looked at a map - even a flat earth one - P1 was close to a few places.
Never mind eh!!
Proselenes - Nobody is scared !!!
EVERYBODY is just BORED with your constant derision of everyone else. You state you have made lots of money trading. Big wows - nobody is impressed with someone who blows their own trumpet.
Everyone by now - having done their own research - can see that BPC is a fraction over 2p, having commenced an exploratory drill, when previously and with a lot less shares has seen the more recent heady heights of 5p.
So without drill in the seabed the price is a measly 2.2p - why do you feel the need to trawl up all of the what if scenario that you do?
We will wait around 8 weeks, or less, before the results may be made official. Perhaps you would be coming back and either shouting "Told you so" or making a humble apology - though the latter would not be forthcoming as it would not blowing your own trumpet.
We are where we are, the prospect of finding oil looking at the figures of cos/pos - here is an article published by what appears to be your favourite journal to quote from: -
http://www.tribune242.com/news/2018/jan/11/oil-explorers-success-prospects-four-times-better/
They are so hypocritical of pro-drilling comments - decrying anyone from outside of the Bahamas from commenting or voting on the Tribune poll - yet they create a petition today of Change.Org decrying the drill and wanting folk worldwide to cast a vote.
They have today received 84,000 out of a target 150,000 to take the petition to the government to harras them with a petition as well as a JR application.
"We ask you to join us in this urgent petition asking the Prime Minister to cancel all existing oil exploration licenses, reject all proposed renewals and impose a permanent ban on fossil fuel exploration anywhere within our maritime borders.
One of the latest signatories is Paulette Poitier-Newton who is a senior exec assistant at Citi Private Bank Bahamas so at least local, then a Peter Scherling who could be from anywhere.
This to me is background noise and the drill on the Stena Ice Max continues to spin.
Loving the comment on the Tribune poll from someone called Voltaire "The British BPC shareholders are actively plotting on their chat to hijack this poll for Bahamians and skew it artificially in their favor. Bahama7 is their ringleader"
Upvote 0
Another of Voltaire's comments "You British scumbags have totally misread the situation. Just watch what happens"
The above could well have been written by one of our new posters.
Stay safe all ;@)
This is the very first poll I have seen to ascertain the views of the people.
I have held BPC shares for over a decade - now I hear folk are complaining to the Supreme Court for the first time in that period as well as putting the thoughts up for a public poll.
Now I know the rumour is life in the Bahamas can be a little laid back - I do not believe that if the majority had concerns about oil drilling, some 90 miles away from their southernmost shores, they would have taken over a decade to get out of their armchairs and do something about it.
Whilst folk can keep posting "What If" messages = if the truth be told the good folk of the Bahamas are not overly concerned about oil at this moment in time.
For a group to have only gotten themselves organised in the last couple of months of 2020, shows how desperately inept this group are.
Stinks to high heaven of someone trying to scupper BPC at the last minute, knowing there is a couple of billion barrels of oil to be had.
No matter what the ecologists say - oil is still required and not just for gas-guzzling cars.
The Bahamas is a tiny nation, never having had the chance to benefit from something beneath its waters, though used and abused by the big fish for oil production etc. Russia, USA and the Arab states will continue to produce - why on earth would the Bahamas take the moral high ground now?
They have a massive opportunity to gain employment for its citizens, income from new taxes, revenue streams from oil, at a time when Covid has destroyed the chances of a quick recovery to the tourism industry.
Best regards and Happy New Year to all - stay safe ;@)
Looks like they realise folk can vote more than once and/or send out the link to the worldwide army of opponents to anything that does not smell of tofu.
Proselenes - again an article full of Ifs from the opponent's side
The comment "Ms Banona-Adderley's affidavit thus represents the activists' latest attempt to find holes in BPC's arguments" just shows that the opponents of drilling are still clutching at straws.
Rochelle Newbold, director of the newly-formed Department of Environment, Protection and Planning (DEPP), has already rejected the argument by environmental activists that a new EA and public consultation was required because BPC had changed its drill ship to the Stena IceMAX.
"The DEPP upon receiving notice of the change in the rig indicated a 'no objection' to the change after the review and consultation with its independent environmental consultants," she alleged in an affidavit, referring to Black & Veatch. "The indicated changes by BPC had no relation to the impacts associated with the EIA, and therefore no 'new approval' was warranted.
#"Upon notice of the change in the drilling contractor, the Department was provided with the documentation regarding information and specification of the rig, its experience, background and capabilities.
#"This information was reviewed by the DEPP and the independent international environmental consultant, Black & Veatch, and no issues were identified which would have compromised the identified and required undertakings in the Environmental Management Plan."
#Arguing that the environmentalists' arguments were "misconceived", Mrs Newbold argued that public consultation on BPC's project had taken place as required under the Petroleum Act 2016. This, though, was rejected by Fred Smith, the activists' attorney, who said: "They're scraping the bottom of the historical barrel for consultation."
Give it a rest Proselenes
ShareScare - my list is already long, and therefore I miss several pages of drivel each day as a result.
Perhaps it is that FOMO that puts people off, however, I found it is quite refreshing.
I will therefore need to find a different resolution to break - lol. ;@)
All sports and a lot of activities require some kit to take part. Equipment/Tools of the trade perhaps.
6.15 metres is the record for the highest pole vault.
64.4 oz was the largest sturgeon caught by a pole in the UK.
Apparently pole dancing has been described as an extreme sport.
What is believed to be the world’s largest ski pole is back in place in the New Hampshire ski town of North Conway following repairs required after it was blown over in a storm in the spring of 2018.
I only started to look at these sports as someone was asking what they would need to punch a nail into a fence pole.
I said the best tool would be a hammer.
Best regards all - have a super New Year - as laallee says "Stay Frosty" not many options for anything else tonight.
Here is to a better 2021 folks. Stay safe ;@)
Slide 4 informs about exploration and the 30 year production lease (by right on application on discovery).
The video presentation, of course, covers what was the expectation with the previous rig contract with SeaDrill.
Overall some good information which those new to BPC should be reading and give avenues for further research as you all need to do your own research unlike some ,who haven't done theirs, and come back and do some *****ing instead.
Stay safe - Now - I must leave the world of the web and go and do something useful instead ;@)
They usually only turn up when there is some good news approaching and yet we have had a couple of kicks in the nuts of late.
People who suffer from ALF syndrome rarely hang about within a group of real people - people who are able to touch each other.
HOWEVER in the world of reality and the web - they tend to clan together like hyenas. Smirking, in their dimly lit rooms with nicotine-stained fingers and nails with an occasional call from mummy, asking if they are hungry, but they are not hungry, they are hyped up.
Their cans of rocket fuel (Monster, Red Bull and the like) pulling away at the veneer of their desk, their hearts racing when they get a bite. Oh the joys of being a keyboard warrior!!
All for what?
I'm off to breathe the fresh air which comes direct from the north sea (German Sea as it used to be) across the ice-covered fields and straight into my youthful lungs.
Stay safe out there folks because ALFs are all around you, just waiting for that moment of weakness to get under your skin. Annoying Little F&c%e£s that they are.
Don't let them drag you down, keep your glass half full and here is to a better 2021 ;@)
The Moyes Report. Too long to post - so a little bit of work for anyone wishing to view it.
